I just put my 93 240 in the shop for a head gasket change and then they found that the head was also warped beyond repair so now I gotta find that. About how much do they cost? The guy runnin the machine for the head said to check the valve rings to see if they were melted together, and thats what I'm waiting on them to do now. The guy also said that if the bottom pressure or something (i forgot) goes then it will just become a smoke beast and loose oil way too much.So I might have to be looking for a new engine..anyone know any good places online, or orderable.. that I could check into?

MELTED VALVE SPRINGS??!!! good lord man what the hell happened to this engine? If you have in fact that much damage to the head the short block is probably messed up to. Get a complete engine from a scrapyard and drop off this one while you are there!:shocked2

Yup, best bet is to go to a junkyard and find a longblock, they can be had by me for 200 (the particular one I saw had 75k on it).

If I want a different engine, say from a 300zx, would that cost a whole lot more than just the 240sx's?

Good luck getting it in. Probaly not a ton for an engine but a ton of fabricatioon is needed. There are other swaps available you know..

If you don't wanna spend a ton of $ get a CA 18 engine it has plenty of potential power for the average person.

High Rev too :)

Get the Sr20DET if you want just a little more power then the CA off the bat.

Go Skyline power if you're insane like me :)

(4 months and counting till my RB25 swap!)
