I don't think I've seen one positive comment about this yet. Horrible plan... sounds kind of like "we're just like BMW but with a letter in front"

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard out of Infiniti. I understood when the Q was shot in the head finally, hell it was a total failure in 3rd gen form. I have been looking for an eventual replacement for my 97' Q45 and right now there is no Infiniti in sight that I really want. I wanted to love the M35 Hybrid (or what is that now Q53) but didn't. I think new coil packs and KS are in order and grab another 5 years out of the old girl and save up for a GTR .

They will eventually stop themselves as the brand becomes even more confusing to the general public......I think they have the worst marketing staff of any {so called} luxury brand.Lets see,they have 2 lines of "cars" now, and what 4 or 5 lines of SUVs and a minivan???????? Becoming a joke of a brand in the luxury market in my book

Honestly I think it is a brilliant idea. They should have used this naming approach from day 1.

The X represents cross over like Lexus, Lincoln, and Acura.

Q is from Q-ships and the historical significance of that name.

Q-ships, also known as Q-boats, decoy vessels, special service ships, or mystery ships, were heavily armed merchant ships with concealed weaponry, designed to lure submarines into making surface attacks. This gave Q-ships the chance to open fire and sink them.

The basic ethos of every Q-ship was to be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Now Infiniti needs to finish the public education job that was never started on the first attempt.

I don't really care, Infiniti hasn't made a car that's really worth a damn since the G50.. Really the same thing goes for Nissan as a whole.. The new M56X isn't bad, but there's other cars I'd rather have for the same money.

I'm with you man... I think more people will be turned on to Infiniti with the new nomenclature.... especially since the original Q wasn't well marketed.... maybe now the letter "Q" will finally be homolgous with the Infiniti brand.
