am I the only one that gets annoyed by people that diss NASCAR or am I not alone on it when I think it does take a lot of skill as well, I guess people don't realize that in NASCAR it just really comes down more to driver skill than car, also, it's the ultimate in testing a car body's aerodynamic abilities even though the body isn't quite stock shape. 200+mph for 500 miles is pretty badass for a car that isn't a spoiler with 4 wheels though. Fear the mindless rant!
would you actually take the Ferrari over the Shelby Cobra Daytona? I wouldn't even though I've heard them mention that the six built had a few gremlins, they still threw down hard in races though...
School bus demolition derby (actually saw this on espn2 today, funny stuff) or Baja Truck?
The Daytona Coupe is very cool, but very uncivilized. No creature comforts. Gets hot as hell after 30 minutes driving. Pure race car. Not much good except on the track. (and I don't live near one) But the Ferrari is the ultimate in grand touring. Comfortable and refined. As much fun on the street as it is on the track. No better sound or feeling than a Ferrari V-12.
As far as NASCAR goes, While I appreciate the drivers skills in running 200mph so close together in such big cars, oval racing is boring to watch (except maybe the last 2 laps). I find the IRL boring too for the same reason. The rules and officiating as NASCAR is very inconsistent. "Provisional" qualifying is dumb, and the commentary during the races can be more nauseating than Howard Cosell. I could go on and on. I'll sometimes watch NASCAR when they run at Watkins Glen, as I've run my car there. But NASCAR only uses half the dang track. SCCA, ALMS, F1, Trans-am, WRC are far more interesting to watch than NASCAR. But the advertising that goes with NASCAR is too much.
Anyway, probably baja truck.
IRL or CART?
