This may be a noob question but..

Nissan dominates the drift scene - Always has, always will.

What got you all into drifting? Also, where did you guys learn how to drift, i mean you have to start some where. I would like to learn how to drift and actually expirience it atleast one time in my life, because all i read here is that its fun and i wanna try. I've been tryin to get my bud to go to a track with me, but hes always busy and his car needs some things before he wants to drive it.

i hated drifting for a long time. thought it was stupid. i was way more into open track and road racing stuff.

till i rode with one of my good friends.

that changed it. i got done and said "i have to learn how to do this"

and its been downhill ever since.

worked at a classic performance shop, picked up my first car which was a slightly built 79 T/A with rear traction issues(got it for 1k off a co-worker), little by little picked up method and terminology from my co workers, then one of my friends took me to a parking lot where the kids at my high school went to do donuts and such, and there were a few kids at this time who actually drifted well so spending almost every weekend watching them I started jumping in on it with my T/A after picking up a spool rear end, but when gas prices shot up I leaned towards my dad's 510 but he wouldn't budge on his pride and joy so I did the next best thing and bought an s13 to have as a cheap fun car (the gas and maint. of the T/A was killing me)

Just make some friends on the forum and go to meets with them, my friends are just as flaky for track days and they always have something to fix or some reason they cant go

Keep it on the track! ull learn wat u learn on the streets quicker and a hella more. And theirs nothin better then slidin man, adrenaline and fun.

I started drifting on gravel roads with my truck and when I got a car it was suprisingly easier to do it on pavement but I'm still far from being good at it.

i was a fan since i was 14 and when i got my license i got a mini truck. i lowered it and did some other stuff and used to rally and autox it. well when i turned 18 i had enough of dirt and got a 240 and made the switch to street.

I use to be into grip, since we dont have tracks down here but a single circle track, i would go and look for new neighborhoods where ppl hadnt moved in yet and i would just grip the turns as quick as i could and every now and then i would catch understeer and too correct it i would rip the e brake to correct myself, and it felt neat so everynow and then i would try and start it earlier and thats where it all started. been upsetting her rear end ever since

I love grip driving, I still love grip driving, I owned all RWD cars, from MR2's and IS300 now on my second 350z, I found that in some cases, you need to transition the car from grip to drift to take advantage of the road / course. Oh, and it's really really really fun!

well i was all about griping and all that jazz.. id say back in 2000 i saw a option video some guys had.. was like that looks fun as hell.. then i picked up a dvd at bestbuy.. i know most of u have seen it it kinda sux.. Hashiriya is the title.. had street footage of fumiaki komatsu... Drifter X... not even a ranked d1 driver but the guy is nuts.. then i i just had to learn that.. he takes a lady for a ride and when its over she cant stand up..lol.

funny thing is thats how i got/made up my screen name..hear me out im not some fan boy of him or something..lol. some guys i work with borrowed the movie and was like thats what u gonna do? we gonna call u drifter S then.. since my first name is Steven.. it was all a joke they/we all made fun of it.. and i signed up on a few drift forums back in 02 id say and used that silly name..hell people at events here will actually refer to me as that cause thats what they get used to seeing i guess..haha. well now i just keep using it..oh well..kinda corny but it works.

but yeah i wanted a corolla after seeing some of them in videos and learned that its prolly the hardest car to learn in and drift.. so my philosophy was to learn the hachi and then move on to a more consistent chassis. hence the reason i keep picking up s13s.. but i still love my ae86s..

reguardless.. if u wanna get into it just do it..

first event i went to... went alone.. knew no one there.. and just did it.. and i sucked.. repeated that a few times till i finally got the balls to talk to some people... theres like some unsaid bond with drifters.. theres no one talking about how bad someone sucks or whatever.. we all share the same interest so we are all like old friends.. everyone is actually open and welcoming believe it or not.. i wouldnt sweat it man.. just get out there and do it.. its all downhilll from there.

I saw it in a magazine a bounch of years ago and did all i could to learn about it. Once i got my 240sx from a junk yard i started in the snow so i got used to going sideways without freaking out. Later i went to rain. Easy to get the rear end out but its hard to keep you line. Then i moved to a parking lot and did it in the dry. It takes getting used to but **** was it soooo much fun. I started really slow but now im getting faster and faster and i do do it in the streets but only at 3 am so no cars are around. I have had soooo many close calls with almost drifting past a cop. This summer will be my second track drifting event so im excited.
