Someone go tell those guys they cant steal the look of our cars!

But at the same time, its like they are admitting our cars look $1600 cooler.

o damn, im going to sell my s13 and buy a civic to put a nissan front end on!

At hot rice nights in philly i saw some honda (i couldnt tell which on cause it was so butchered) with s14a headlights and r34 taillights. I felt like saying to the dude "for all of that money you spent on that car you could have bought a real nissan"

ahem. okay, not to take you all down, but.....

Honda engines are quite likely the most reliable engine around. People like their honda's because they like hondas. That's their thing. You talk about doing all of the front end conversions to cars that are older and what have you, because its uncommon. Well, how is that different from what honda owners are doing to their civics, yes, its a different make, but its still a car, and if it works, then more power to them. I personally wouldnt do it, ****, why drive a fwd econobox when you can have a rwd beast(cept for autox).

But the thing is, the Nissan KA motors are just as tough and can take quite the beating....in fact, most of the time 240s are in the same price range as the Civics and CRXs.....! I mean, I think JDM front ends look great on the cars they belong on, like Nissan JDM fronts on Nissan cars and Honda on Honda, etc......when you put it on a Honda, I wonder, "What is this guy trying to say?" With the extra money he spent on a conversion, he could've probably bought an S14, I dunno. :)

maybe he likes the rest of his car though. the JDM honda fronts are the same as the USDM honda fronts cept for the integras and a few other acuras and i think some accords. :)

Except for that whole U.S. mandated crumple zone/crash bar reinforcement issue, causing every import manufacturer to rebuild/redesign their front end/bumper height, etc. to meet USDOT standards. Most recent example being of course the EVO.

A greater probability is their parents bought that accord/civic with auto, or 4 speed transmission and 200K on the odo, because the parents understand that if they buy a name brand like honda, they will most likely not have to worry about maintenance/repair bills. Meanwhile, the kids push for the honda because they saw some tyte aero kit in some magazine or some terrible movie, and if they flip just a few more burgers, they too can have a tyte car yo. Kids don't try and build cars for the love of the automobile. They go to pep boys and see what's cheap that will fit on their car. This is the demise and the sad reality of the famed Honda name.

Use your head now. The cars are ultra-reliable, the parents are willing to pay for the base model with the cigarette burns on the seat down at the local used car lot so the kid will quit asking for the keys to their car/transportation for future college. And what does the kid do? Wraps that sucker around a telephone pole while trying to drift wit the e-brake, yo. This kind of scenario is much more likely than some utopian idea about "honda enthusiasts" and the like, although no kids will admit it, all you hear from kids is about that tyte wing and wheels that are sick yo, but add unsprung weight, something most kids aren't interested in understanding. My point is, Hondas are generally gifted to people. Nobody walks on a Honda lot and says "Now that civic is the ultimate automotive platform on which to build my dream car". If they DO say that, well then, we have a name for those people.

Only craftsmen and dedicated motoring nuts who set out to make money with their cars truly *build* hondas. There are few *Honda enthusiasts*. We can see them on tv racing in sanctioned, sponsored events.

In this area there are quite a few true honda "enthusiasts". Its almost as if the whole ricer trend is dying down. I really dont see too many riced out cars anymore althought there are definately quite a few. But the number of quick hondas is definately large. I know plenty of guys with civics and integs running well into the 13s. Also it seems a lot of guys are going from Hondas to WRXs. There are so many of them around here now its insane.

agreed. i had a good conversation my last autocross with a Honda Civic Si driver. he set the FTD for the day, and his car is sponsored by Falken and 5zigen. true Honda enthusiasts *are* hard to find.

I disagree, I'm too tired to make my point, but I'll try anyway. A lot of people I know actually look for Civics and Integras to mod. And please don't bring up "ricer" cuz all they want is a nice clean lightweight car that they can easily put a 170+ hp motor into and make it go in a straight line. They know a lot about their cars, do all their own work and you prolly wouldn't even notice them if you saw them on the street. they are as much enthusiasts as most of the regulars on this board.

good point, but mixing body parts from different makes of cars changes what the car is, and it isn't that origonal anymore. yeah sure, to each his own, but I think what Honda needs right now are more modest trends. take what has happened to altezzas for example. waaay outta control, every honda that wants to be different has a set. now they are just an eyesore to the point where when I see them an the car they should be on (lexus IS) it kinda looks cheap just fromt he association. It won't happen to such an extent, but imagine if every wannabe puts s14 and s15 heaclights on their civics and integras, it will cheapen the look of the s14 and s15 by a bit. that's what we're all afraid of. worse case senario, but . . .
