ARGH!! So I was trying to pull out of my driveway last night and it was cluttered with cars, i asked my sister if i was clear and she said yea yea and then BOOM!! I hit the bumper of my dads car... On a daily bases, I usually park where my sis is parking and my dad usually leaves before my sis gets out so this was never a problem. I guess bad luck for me, D@MN sister!! she owe me big time! Can this be covered up with touchup paint or do i have to get it professionally painted?

Sorry pics are taken with my phone, ill post up quality pics tonight

Ouch, that looks like it's going to need a lil' more than just touch up paint man. If you got the equipement to give it a professional touch then do it.......if not, then your gonna need some professional help with that. My .02 cents, hope you get it worked out soon.

How much does it usually run to get that fixed?

Yea, theres a small gash on the fender but nothing big, no frame damages, just a long heavy scratch

I am not sure how much pro's touch would cost, somebody should chime in on that. But from the looks of it........now I may be incorrect, may have to be buffed? paint.......then clearcoat? I am no expert on car paint, sorry I can't be better help but somebody here will have the answer.

Your insurance will cover it regardless of who's fault it is/was. But, the thing you have to take into consideration is your deductible. Most people, including myself, have a $500 deductible, so if this is the case with you, I'd suggest you just pay out of pocket. You could take it to a shop to have them buff it out, but you'll still have a slight indention. If you want the bumper repainted, look to spend around $400-$500, give or take a little.

As Eric said, it's probably better to pay out of pocket, mainly because of the deductible. Unless you're using something like Allstate, where the deductible can be reduced to $0. In any case, this scenario is an unpleasant one.

okay thanks guy, well i found out it might just have been paint from my dads car. I tried rubbing off the paint and some seem to come off but theres is some left that doesnt seem to want to come off. Would wax or some type of polish help me take off the remaining paint?

Wow, thats looks like the same exact area where my car was hit! Although yours doesn't look as bad as mine... still sucks doesn't it?

I've personally used a product called Malco Rejuvenator to remove an old scuff which I got while parked. Its a one step product with a mild abrasive and lots of filling properties. You should definitely give that a try and I guarantee it'll make your damage look only 1/10 as bad as it does now. It "rejuventates" paint like magic.

I had a scratch that looked very similar to that. I rubbed against a curb one day, going to work.

I had the autobody shop do a BUFF job. No paint involved. Not sure what they do, but it got out just about 95% of the scatch.

They did it for free -- not sure how much it would cost normally.

The white stuff that's showing under the paint... Is that paint transfer or the primer?

if it's paint transfer, it will polish out. Happened with my last car; grazed a white pole while parking. All of the white paint came off though, just took lots of scrubbing.

Hope that helps? :/
