When I took the head off of my motor, I seen THIS!!!!!!!
I guess the trans came off at one point in the motors life and this bolt was lost, then replaced with one too long and driven in with an impact. It broke off the shank nipple in the block casting. Luckily it was in the water jacket, and not somewhere critical. Now I gotta get this crap welded up to prevent water leaking around the threads of the bolt and gettin into the bell housing.

Ouch! That sucks. Somebody stripped out the bolts on the passenger side gusset on my CA18 when I first got it. I had to helicoil it. Tapping threads in cast iron SUCKS.

arp makes some sealant for head bolts that protrude into waterways...might be worth a go.

Thanks. I'm taking it to a guy tomorrow to look at it. I think it could be welded or braised up. If it can't, I'll be getting another block from the guy I bought the motor from. He's a good friend of mine.
