Today I was looking through my garage when I found a spare center console for my j30 and got an interesting idea. Since I haven't seen anyone else try this (and with wood grain, I don't know why anyone would) I thought I'd give it a shot and see how it came out. I only did this for fun and am posting it on the off chance that someone else was wanting to try something similar.

I used all of the parts from a "universal" dash kit I got from walmart. Here is everything epoxied and sanded down.



Yes, this is a lot of body filler, but i went a little crazy with the electric sander and just wanted to make sure it was all smooth.



And here it is all sanded down and ready to paint



Here it is with a few coats of white



This is how the pearl metallic should come out, but in the end it got a bunch of fish eyes every where

Like I said before, I did this for fun in my spare time and the likelihood of me actually using it in my car is slim to none. I just hope that I could give someone else a good idea to go with.

hey, i saw pics that had a deck put in in replacement of the factory deck, gay question but how did you do it?i have a 96 j30 and cant find a splitter thats the same 4 any decks?the store said i had to pay them to install one which was way too much $.i have a deck i just want music back soooo bad!!! my factory deck turns on but there is no sound i know the back speakers were a lil crackly from listening to it too loud, but it wont play any sound and im going nuts driving in silense can u give me any info at all??? PLEASE!!DiVA

Go to crutchfeild.com and look up gear for a 96 Maxima. they dont show stuff for the J but a maxima's had the same system.

Like yoda said, check out crutchfield.com they have everything. Im my case, I went to a local Fry's electronic store and picked one up for my car. Its more of a west coast franchise, but here is the link:

Its one of the four, but I'm not sure which. If you don't find what you are looking for, you can have mine. Since all my speakers are wired off my amps, the only wiring i need for my deck is the power and ground. Good luck!
