Yeah so I was bored this morning and decided to randomly take off my rear bumper for shizz and grins. It was pretty easy to do, and I have mixxed thoughts about the outcome with how it looks, it will probably wind up going back on early next week sometime. As you can tell from the pics, it looks akward with the tow hitch sticking out like that, but atleast its some protection in the event of someone rear ending me. Im eventually going to be building a tube bumper for it with higher clearance. Lemme know what yall think.

What it used to look like

You can see how tall it appears after it is taken off, it really shows the real size of the 33's and the lift I like it

with the original bumper looks a bit odd with the lift, but without it doesn't look finished. maybe you can somehow mod the bumper to be a bit smaller to cover all the cuts in the sheet metal and just finish it off.
but the back end looks tough...

I usually take the rear bumper off when wheeling (or when I did wheel at school) and I think it looks really cool. I don't think it's very safe, however. I think if you got rear-ended either the person behind you would end up with a tow hitch to the face or your car would crush like a soda can.

Naw, the bumper that was on there is not really super strong, the metal parts are just flimsy sheet metal anyways, it can only absorb so much shock. And the hitch didnt move at all, its in the same spot so the person would wind up with a hitch in their face reguardless lol

Sorry for thread jacking, silvapathy, but i couldnt PM you. What size lift do you have, where did you get it, and what other things did you have to do to get the 33's to fit? Your ride looks sharp, and ive been considering a lift for a while. Now ive gotten to see one on a silver pathy like mine, i like it.

Its the 2in Lift from AC- 4x4parts.com

Check out this thread I made awhile back on fitting the 33's on the lift. It is very detailed and pretty much any question you could possibly have should be answered in the thread.....if you have questions after reading it, re read it lol

I'm with oasisx, dam you have a huge garage!!! Even though the raised version isn't my personal style, I think once you put the Tube style bumper on it will look right. I agree it looks funny with the factory one since you have it raised up. Great job btw.

What are yall meaning by huge garage? Like in height of the garage, or the fact that its a 3 car.....we need a 3 car cause we have 3 cars :gotme But its pretty nice once you have them out to have alot of space in the shade to work

man it would be sick if you didnt have that hitch. I mean look at how much rear clearance you got!!!

I wonder if it earned you any MPG (less drag) ? Sports cars usually have a diffuser of some sort on the rear...

Probably looking at the rear bumper when it was off, it looks like it would really trap air and create a ton of drag.

For me the fact that it is a three car garage. Mine is only made for two. And yes it is great to have a "work shop" when u want to work on your rides!

Another benefit to having the rear bumper dettached would be not having a mud-scooper.

x6 on the garage. Awesome

Pathfinder looks surprisingly good without the rear bumper. Truck and tires look huge! A tube bumper would look great.
