1990 Maxima. Has been sitting for months in storage. Jump started it and turned on the Bose radio and there is no sound. None. Flat. Tried a CD, tried the radio (antenna does go up, tunes to a station) but there's absolutely no sound.

Is there a separate fuse for the Bose amps?

Thanks!

I doubt it. I believe that year had the amps on each speaker. If it was an amp problem, it would not cause all speakers to be out.

Have you checked the main fuse? Does it turn on at all?

Car starts and runs nicely, very nicely. I cleaned the battery terminals just now, but no help. The digital clock also died last night. Bose fuse looks good. All other fuses look good.

Its a really nice full-size Bose CD head unit made in 2000, but I suppose I could just buy a harness, some cheap speakers, and an aftermarket head unit instead of messing with this crap.

I hate Bose. Otherwise I'm quite happy with this little car.

[Update] One speaker suddenly came on today and the junkyard gave me three free amps. *shrug*

The digital clock is known to go out on the 3rd gens. I believe on Maxima.org there is a tutorial on how to re-solder the connection and take care of the problem. I'll see if I can find it for you later.

Bose system has been gutted and replaced with an aftermarket HU and speakers. A friend told me about the soldering guide, but for the clock, I think I'll buy a tack-on one at Walgreens and call it good.

Actually I believe your problem was a quick fix. There is a small fuse upside-down in the top right corner that I had to replace, but I have a 4th gen also.
