this is the engine!!!!

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Always loved the sound of Mustangs and those KBs are definitely sick sounding. But, an LS1 swap is simpler and more cost effective. The width of the 4.6/5.4 and the cost of the Kenne Bell makes the LS1 the obvious choice.

Yeah, plus I dont know if they make a front sump oil pan and pick up for that engine. I have a LS6 in mine, and I just ordered an ati procharger. With the patriot heads, cam, and larger injectors I have. Once its all bolted on and dyno tuned I should be looking at 600 horse. My only problem is my S15 hood is going to have a cowl.....

Kinda like this, but only i n my 240http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQVVfhLARHQ

It's a tad wider then the VH, which fits pretty well from what I've seen so far.

Custom oil pan and pickup for sure though.

If it will fit size wise, building a custom oil pan is easy. Now for the pickup that might be a little more difficult, but can't be that hard. Question is will the transmission fit? Bellhousing in perticular? The t-56 is a pretty big transmission.

Looks like it is a top loader, but wonder about the dimensions? Anybody know how the ka24de transmission sizes up to a t-56? Not power wise!!!! Just pure dimensions.

LS1s also use the T-56 as the manual transmission. It'll fit. Got one sitting in my car.

If you're looking at the 4.6, get one from the lincoln mkViii, it's the all aluminum version. Its a good swap, they get 28 MPG in NA form and the MK VIII gets up and goes for a 4000lb car.

Yep, the mark viii 4.6l dohc is a very affordable setup. I just picked up a '94 mark 8 complete engine set, with complete efi setup (aka swap) for $750. They make 285hp/285tq in bone stock form with single exhaust. The mark 8 engines are the same engine as 96-98 mustang cobra's used, just with a different intake design, and smaller exhaust cams. I am pretty sure the cobra supercharger setup('00+) would be nearly a direct bolt on(and can be had complete for ~$1000), which would get you into the 400+hp/tq range easy on stock boost. It has got me thinking about putting one in the s13... But this specific engine set I am putting into a friends car - so maybe next time one will be going in the s13. In about a week(right before I put the engine in his car) I will take some measurements to make sure it is do-able.

i may like the 4.6L sound out of the mustangs, but............what about..........a kennebell'd ls1?, they make a kit(either a 2.6L or 2.8L supercharger) for the ls1 corvettes, should be easy to put in a 240sx, the hard part would be gettin any traction at all, cause ya can get ~600+ rwtq @ 2k rpms easily.

03-04 cobra motors are very expensive, so an ls1 would be a lot cheaper. the 4.6 can handle a lot of power stock. personally, i love driving the 03-04 cobras at work(i work for ford). they are quick, even with just bolt-ons. unfortunately, the one cobra i remember with an aftermarket charger that ever came in the shop, but i never got a ride in it. it had a dyno sheet in the car at 702 rwhp on a brand new long block with a whipple charger. the guy that did work on it said it was one of those cars you wish you could always have and that it was stupid fast. he is always on ebay now looking for a whipple for his lightning. in hindsight, a 4.6 will cost alot more to modify than an ls1.

YOu dont need to supercharge to get the big numbers even. I am bumping my compression to 11.5:1 from 10:1 on the LS motor, and upgrading to the LS2 top end, and extras. Its gonna cost about 4000 total but It should be close to 500 ponies

Somebody should be making mounts by now for v8 swaps right. I'm loving the mark 8 idea. It seems like it would be more reliable than a turbo swap and the parts are always available.
