no idea what its called but this piece here is teh one that caps the sr's boost at 7 psi, correct? it was hooked up when i bought the car. the wastegate ran into it then it ran out to the intake piping and its was plugged into to a small harness that went along the front of teh motor with the cas and mafs wiring. thsi is what it is, isnt it? or am i way off here it is hooked upand just laying there

It's the boost selenoid. You can remove it without any adverse effects. The stock wastegate is set to 7 psi, just FYI, so removing that thing won't casue you to magically get 10 psi or so. It's primary job was to prevent boost spiking IIRC

i c, someone said in a thread on here that if u removed it it allows the boost to go to 10 as opposed to being limited to 7. i really dont care either way since i removed it and im cutting out the wiring. a lot of sr swaps i've seen dont have it so i was slightly confused. so it prevents boost spike? if thats the case why dont more sr swaps have this little thing. i didnt take it off to get more power, i'm just cleaning up unnecessary things. my avcr will up the boost and protect against spiking so im not worried

While your cleaning the wiring you might want to clean up your engine bay and motor. That thing is dirrrrty lol.

Most people leave them off as they're unnecessary and rarely come in a motorset swap. In fact, out of the dozen or so swaps I've done, I have yet to have had one of those.

It was more of a redundant thing that Nissan had tosses in and really has no impact on performance. Every swap I've done that we left the turbo's stock wastegate actuator on ran 7 psi strong, so I don't see how removing it is supposed to up your boost pressure to 10. More than likely someone had a boost controller and that little selenoid was preventing a higher boost amount from being attained.

^ it could be i just remember someone saying off topic in a thread that it gives more boost when removed. im just gonna toss it in the trash unless for some odd reason someone wants it. maybe i'll have to post in the rare parts thread
