this is starting to make me really mad.

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

so the car randomly stalls out for no reason. thats not what is pissing me off. whats pissing me off is when i try to start it again, the engine turns really slow and she wont start. i let her sit there for 15 mins and she turns fast enough for the engine to start. last night i come to a light and after the RPMs dropped, she stalled out. i tried to start her and like i said she tries to turn over REALLY REALLY slow like im out of battery juice. i just drove the car for an hour. i have battery. volt meter on my turbo timer shows 11.8-12.3 or so. but she still doesnt want to start right after she has turned off or stalled. now i can let the car sit for an hour or more and she will crank as normal and start no problem. anyone have any ideas? maybe it could be bad battery connection but that doesnt explain how in the mornings she will start fine after the car has sat for awhile. my starting problem seems to be opposite of other peoples starting problem. like once others cars have been sitting for awhile, they have a hard time starting. but once they get thiers started it starts up fine everytime after that. mine is the other way around. starts fine in the mornings but will not start if i shut if off to go into the gas station real quick or something.

If the alt is charging properly it should be over 13v.

check your alternator for the charge issue. And check your water temperature sensor for the hot restart issue. It only happens when the motor is at operating temp?

yes it only happens when the motor is at operating temp. now that i think about it, the cooler the car is, the easier it is to start. isnt there two temp sensors or just one?

i dont think its an alternator issue since the car can sit overnight after been driven the day before and start no problem. plus the reason its not showing 13v is cause i have a battery drain from somewhere that i cant locate

just stick a volt meter on the battery and get a real reading instead of the turbo timer.

pop off the caps on the battery and make sure you don't have any dry cells.

Even then do a load test on the battery and see if it holds up fine.

The one for the ECU (that you need to check) is the two wire one. Mine is red, on the left side. The single wire sensor is only for the dash, it's worthless. You can find in the FSM a section that says what ohms you need to measure from the ecu coolant sensor. Also pull the codes from the ECU to see if it's complaining about anything... I would also measure continuity from the sensor back to the pin(s) on the ECU to make sure you don't have shorts...

I don't really think you'll find anything wrong with the ECT even if it was shot the engine would turn over with the same speed as it does when cold. Sounds like a problem with your battery and/or your starter/solenoid when it gets hot.
