What's up guys... This may be a freak situation, but someone please let me know if they have had this same problem:

I just installed my KYB AGXs and Eibach Prokit struts/springs, and my car rides significantly stiffer. Most bumps send jolts through the chassis. This is not a problem, for I have them set for stiffness and it doesn't bother me. My fuel pump, however, apparently hates it. When I drive over medium sized bumps/dips/holes in the road, it seems as though my fuel pump briefly comes disconnected from its power source and makes contact once more after impact. My fuel is cut for only a few milliseconds, but it is enough to make the car jolt and sputter. At low RPMs, (i.e. when I'm coming to a stop and put the car into neutral) if I happen to hit a bump, the car will die as a result of the cut in fuel. It's just annoying! It just started today... Any suggestions?

P.S. I have no idea where to locate the wiring for the fuel pump! (It's in the gas tank, I'm sure, but I don't want to mess around with electrical unless I have some dirrection!)

That isn't "annoying:....that's very very dangerous. You could get into a serious accident like that.

Before you go about inspecting your fuel pump, make sure there isn't a bad connection somewhere else.

If you determine the problem is at the fuel pump, then use this page as a GUIDE (notice i said "guide"...it's not a comprehensive how-to)

http://sr20.hybrids.jp/install....html

This "guide" fails to mention one of the most important things about replacing a fuel pump-------relieving fuel pressure. Make sure you do that and don't learn the hard way like I did ^_^. If you can, try to consult a factory service manual if you can.

Oh whoops, I forgot to say that that link shows you how to replace a fuel pump.

You're only going to be interested in the pictures to locate the wires. There should be two wires that lead to your fuel pump (which you will see after you have relieved fuel pressure, disconnected hoses, and lifted out the entire assembly).

The situation you are talking about is very dangerous, for you, and your engine. I had a similar problem where the power supply had an intermttent open. I replaced the connection. The connection is in the trunk of the car. Pull up the carpeting and anything else that is there. You will find a cover on the passenger side of the trunk that is held down by three or four bolts. Then you will find the connector. I wouldn't even fuss with trying to find out if there s an open in the circuit, as it is an intermittent fault and will be difficult to isolate. Take your time and remove the pins from the jack and plug (after disconnecting the battery)just in case you need them. Go to your local Nissan dealership and order a new plug and jack, I was able to get them to include new pins for me, see if you can get tehm to do the same because you want to ensure that you get a positive connection. Take your time and make sure that you keep track of pins and location. This harness connection also includes the signal for your fuel gauge and low level fuel idiot light. The power for the fuel pump is, I believe, the blue and red wire. Good luck.

Hey guys... Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I finally figured out what was going on with my fuel pump. I recently had my battery terminals cleaned at a mechanic shop, and when they unplugged the wiring going to the trunk (which the previous owner had subs in) they unplugged the fuse, leaving a live wire hanging around. When I hit a bump, the wire would touch the metal surround of my right wheel well, and cause an electrical interference. I pulled it and everything's back to normal!
