Yeah, now that I think about it more, I guess Chev engine codes were always used pretty commonly. Not unusual at all to hear someone mention their L72 Impala or something like that.

I forgot about LS5 being used on the old big block, too.

I like these! I saw one a few months ago as a GS400 clone and it looked like a factory car. Can't find a picture now.

'69 Buick Sportwagon.

When I had my '68 GS350, a buddy of mine had a 69 SportWagon that ran 11's, pulled the front wheels... with a built 350. IIRC, he's still into Buicks... That car was pure evil and shamed many a 'vette owner at the drags.

I wanna get one of the boxy Malibu wagons.

or a two door Vega wagon...those cars are silly.

My uncle had one vette yellow with a built 327 that'd pull the wheels.

I dunno if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I'm looking to get back to around 180.

First off...

Greg,

Hontoni arigatou goziamasu...

I can't thank you enough for the foot work you put in on this. Pop has been lookin for one of these for a while and, wouldn't you know, finds one just minutes from your hood. This is something that just had to be, man.

This is twice you have helped me out in one way or another and I am forever in your debt. If I make it back in 2010 and have a BBQ at the folks' place, you better be there my friend.

Now...

The LT1 has actually been around since 1970, which was offered in the 1970.5 Z/28 Camaro. Look it up. Trust me.

Pontiac had a 400 cubic inch engine...twice, being in the Firebird Forumla, Trans Am, GTO and LeMans. Not sure if the mid to late 60's Tempest got one, but I know the Goats and LeMans' got one. But, unfortunately, the second time ( in the late 70's) the 400 wasn't as good as it once was (really weak con-rods). The 400 Ram Air II and 400 Ram Air III were top of the game in their day.

The 455SD was offered in the 1972 and 1973 Trans Am with the Muncie Rock Crusher M22 trans.

As far as Pops' plans for the car...I think he is just gonna freshen up the body and paint and get the interior in good shape, move the ECU to the inside of the car and clean up the engine bay, address any chassis problems that may/do exist and throw some different wheels (15-16 inch) and tires on there.

Nothing special for this ride.

I will try to keep you posted as it goes and he keeps me updated.

-Neal

Update...

Car was loaded onto a transport for the journey from Phoenix to Galesburg last week.

Should arrive Monday or Tuesday. Hopefully, pop can get us some pictures when it arrives.

By the way pop, that thing gonna fit in the garage? It's kinda big.

My grandmother had a 1996 Buick Roadmaster with the LT1 motor. It made 260 hp / 320 tq I assume it's the same exact motor. The roadmaster is the same as the impala.

One of my buddies just picked up a 2001ish bmw 3series wagon. It is murdered out with i think 19s on it. It looks pretty gangsta. I always wanted one of the old as wagons like a late 50s biscayne/impala wagons.
