Well i've run into a bit of a dilemma and tho after discussing this with cory (nissanfanatic), i just want to know if maybe there was some other alternative as to what me and him came up with.

So i need to mount an MSD 6AL box somewhere within the engine bay and there just isn't anywhere for me to mount it. Probably the biggest reason why there isnt any space is the simple fact that my battery is still up front. Now i purposely had my intercooler piping done so that i wouldnt have to relocate it and not to mention that my system in the trunk ate up a good chunk of what little trunk space we have already. So to all of you that have a MSD box, where did you mount it?

oh and btw, me and cory came up with the idea of mounting it below the air filter on the "side of the engine bay" if that makes any sense. its near where some hardlines run and is the space where some of the egr stuff used to sit......

last but not least, here are 2 pics to show the lack of space i have to deal with........

Hmmm...How about get a battery for a Mazda Miata? Then you'll have the extra space you need.

ah yes, the windshield washer motor area is a good idea but its currently taken by the adjustable fpr..........

as for the mazda miata battery, i guess that wouldnt be too bad of an idea. what year would i ask to get?

Anything random...just walk in and say, "Hi, I need a battery for a 93 Miata."

Just make sure the post configuration will work for you.

Plenty of space! I made a little box for mine out of a sheet of metal which worked out nicely. It fits in there pretty well, especially since you can remove some of the ignition components that are in the way on your car cause you'll be replacing them with MSD stuff.

Heres a pic of mine while I was building it. I eventually cleaned it all up and painted the piece but you get the idea:

Heres how it fit with the IC pipe installed:

You can move your intake slightly to make this work, and also you know damn well your battery *should* be in the trunk haha

PS I miss my car.

well after seeing urs, it seems that perhaps there is hope for the msd box to remain visible. now judging from your pic, your msd box was sitting on top of ur fuse holder box? how did u secure it? also how where is that little ignitor chip thing or since u were running an aem ems, u got rid of it?

the only other msd thing i have besides the box is a blaster ss coil..........

and yes your right, the battery COULD be in the trunk lol.

I think building a plate to hold it like Fiz said is your best bet, or you could mount it on the frame rail looking thing on the drivers side of the engine bay, that's where I recently mounted my MSD coil during a recent wire tucking job, My 6al is where the battery used to be.

That looks like a Gladman manifold. How do you like it?

Why do you need the MSD?

well actually thats a JGS manifold.......DOHC......unless gladman makes one for DOHC, but i wasnt aware of it.

as for the need of the msd, well i got the box for cheap and since i have the coil to match it, im sure that there is nothing but benefits to gain from it.............you can never have TOO good of a spark right?

I don't know but it looks like Gladman's design. I bought one from him for my SOHC. It looks like it should flow a lot better than the forward mount one JGS makes for the SOHC.

Just wish he would have ground down the rough spots while making it. I spent about 5 hours dremmeling it.

Anyway, same basic design. How does it flow?

move the power steering, and stock coil to the rearmost of the shock tower. Put the stock electrical box under the fender lip. You should have quite space there

hey pr240sx, maybe im just off today but im not following where to put the electrical box? (i assume u are referring to the fuse box)

rearmost of the shock tower is in referrence to where the firewall hole is? sorry for the multiple questions..

also, power steering has been relocated to where the hood pin thing is.

as for how the manifold flows, well i have quick spool and haven't really had any issues with it since i got it resurfaced properly. it is the only mani i have ever dealt with so not really sure how to give a comparison to it. cast iron ftw tho.........

The rearmost part I am refering, is between the shock tower and the firewall. The fusebox/electrical box is under the fenderlip, to the side, just flip it and put it to the side.

well the rear shock tower area is off limits due to a car alarm and a plethora (sp?) of wires and lines. as for the fendlip thing, ill look into it but how much play does it have in terms of movement?

and for fiz, not sure if u saw my response to ur posts in this thread but post up some answers por favor
