As some of you may know , I have been getting ready to get a new 03M45 , but more or less decided to keep my Q for my daughter . Anyway , the attendent at my local gas station , has been on my case for months now to sell him my car . I was gonna scare him off , and said $5500 , but he still wants her . What do you guys think ?

Sounds go to me, $ 5500 will buy a decent 94Q.

Yes, but in what condition?

If you have meticulously maintained your Q45, then you know where you stand. Getting one with 60K+ miles on it starts the whole rehabilitation thing again. Consider your time, expendable funds, and present car's condition before deciding. The 1994 and later ones are slightly easier to maintain and do have amenities the earlier ones lacked. You might check to see what's available in your area for a replacement first.

A gas jockey may have trouble with $5.5K unless he is sitting on a pile of cash.

WOW , nobody thinks I should keep it . If I sell , I am not going to buy another old Q , while driving a new M . I will end up buying my daughter a used Civic or something like that . If he doesn't show me the money , I was going to keep it in 'semi-retirement' anyways , no big loss , and I can look at it everyday , which tends to relax me .Yes , the Q is in very good shape , 136Kmi.

KEEP IT. You know how to maintain it. Call me a snob, but I prefer seeing old Qs babied by people who really know them. :)

It depends....... Youll probably never get 5500 out of that car ever again........ Until it becomes an antique........

It's a decent price for a private party sale, BUT those numbers are genrated assuming an AVERAGE conbdition Q45.Noone in this club drives an average condition Q45 and the vehicle <will> be worth more to an informed party (clubmember) that understands the diference.

For a guy off the street $5500 isnt too bad.I paid <MUCH> (in cash) more for my recent 94 Q acquisiton then again t it came with 1000's of $$ worth of professional mods and an implied warranty for major systems , which the privcate party seller has honored.

Anytime I owned a Q it was worth more to me than on tade in because I was going by WHAT WOULD I PAY FOR IT IF ITS CONDIOYON IS COMPLETELY KNOWN to me on a dealers lot.

usually mcuhy more than a trade -in or private party would pay cuz part of that book price is the assumption of the buyer having to deal with the risk on an I=UNKNOWN used car.

Something we as owners dont have.

I usually gladly willpay 2000-4000 more for a known well taken care of club members car than private partybook value.

Fred...:)

I say keep her... I assume the timing chain guides have been replaced? It's a great car! For the safety of your daughter it's a double edged sword - it's fast as hell, so she can get in to trouble with it, but it's also built like a tank! I just spent the last week or two in several junk yards looking for a fuel pump control module.

These cars take one heck of a hit, and the passenger compartment stays intact. The brakes are in the upper 10% of cars for stopping power. Most of all - the car you know is usually better than the one you don't. You know what's been done, and you know about this car now, so you know what needs to be done to keep it in tip top shape.

As for the safety aspects of the Q - check out the hit this one took, and how well the passenger compartment stayed intact!

Does your daughter want the old Q ?!?

I know kids are a lot pickier than they used to be about cars since they manage their image as closely has a hollywood starlet.... If you're daughter hates the idea of driving "daddy's car" then $5000 now isn't a bad idea.

HOLY s***!!! Those rear seats dont even look too bad..........

Its weird, because when we went to get my car insured, the insurance company said it was rated higher (meaning higher-risk) than cars like the firebird, mustang, and camaro of the time!! WTF???

Your insurance company, that is Who Is Fudged. My insurance company told me the 1995 Q45 was one of the highest rated cars (lower losses, less likelyhood of injury to occupants).__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

Actually that's not one of the cars I saw... I found it on Nissan Only Wreckers in their "New Arrivals" section during my search for a FPCU.

As far as the doors being open I think that's pretty common. As best as I can tell most salvage yards don't give a crap about any interior trim, seats, carpets, etc. They just rip trim panels off and throw them on the roof, leave the trunks open etc. On the donor car for my FPCU, the back seat was in really good condition - but they just tossed the bottom half on the roof and left it there with the doors standing open. I guess some places take better care of their inventory, but around here if it's not a motor, transmission, or axle, they just don't care. Nothing more depressing than splitting mildewed leather seats exposed to the elements... :(

You look at that one..... It probably lead a great life..... Not a ton of miles, paint in great shape, nice rims..... And then, gone..... Going from worth 6000 to 60....... :(

Brian..... I dont know if age is a factor or not...... Remember, Im 17.....

That car took a HELL of an impact, and at a weird angle, too.

Sad to see, looks like it was nice before the whack.

Well , my daughter is not spoiled , but not too crazy about driving such a tank , but will drive it , as long as I maintain it , because she remembers the only 2 times I got stuck with the fuel pump/controller crap few months ago , which was the only thing I fixed myself on this car , with NICO's help. She thinks it's very big . The Q came with the 7/100 warranty , which paid for everything , including the chain guides, and a ton of other things . All maintenance , minus oil and few other fluid changes were always done at my dealer . So I feel confident , no major surprises in the next 10-20Kmi at least .

I would say keep it. Great condition and well maintained. Hard to find such a nice car. However, if your daughter is going to be driving and thinks it is too big for her, then you should probably sell it and get her something smaller. I do think that you can get more for it than $5500 from a fellow NICO member. It is a personal decision. The car seems to be important to you, so go with your gut on this.

If I would have had that car for 12 years, I dont think I could let go of it so easily...... You can really get attached to something after that long......!

Im already attached to my Q, and Ive had it like 8months......

elwesso : I bought her 3.5 years old with 46Kmi. from my friend , the owner of the local Infiniti dealership . As such , I always got the VIP treatment , no questions asked .He also threw in the rear sway bar kit , 4 extra OEM wheels for my snow tires . So , under the extended warranty , they replaced the following :A/C compressor (twice I think), drier, etc. , fuel pump ( first round ) , reman. transmission(when I got the car) , upper , lower links few times , the complete engine-out chain guides job with all chains , oil pump , under plenum hoses etc. and reseal valve covers , brake vacum booster , P.S hoses , and other stuff I don't remember . Much of this is normal items on the Q . I always keep it in great shape .Right now , one steering rack boot is torn , the radio antenna does not retract, some wetness from P.S pump , but no loss of fluids , and thats it .
