I'm sure most of you guys from the old forum will agree.

There's too many posts about sr20's and bodykits (not to mention "NOS", spoilers, ka24, etc)

I've noticed tons of Honda owners coming here lately and nobody seems to use the search button. DAMN YOU NEWBIES! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!!!!!

Are there any other 240SX boards... mainly technical ones that have good info?

I can agree with posts about spoilers and nos and kits and sh**. But why dont you want to talk about either sr20's (dont really care to discuss them either) or the KA24 ? So what do you want to talk about autocross / road course suspension setups, what?

Also it doesnt matter where you go as people seem to overlook the seach button everywhere. I believe that if you do your own research, and answer you own questions through searching you will be a much wiser person. You will also retain much more information this way, and may learn more then you expected about other things in your quest.

Blink, there's always the technical section where you can get a$$ deep in whatever you wanna discuss. Remember, we were all new once and you've got a rare opportunity here to make an impact on new 240 owners eerywhere.

Alternatively, you could go back to that "other" board where you got lots of attention from aging pedophiles. :D

I don't mind discussing the sr20 at all, but when they're stupid questions over and over many people get frustrated, ex:

"How much does one cost?""How many horsepower do they have?"

Questions like that is what i was referring too, and thanks to SCC many honda owners want our cars!

Thanks for the hug summer ;)

Ok ok I see your point now. And thoroughly agree with you it is rediculous at times.

Alot of those gereral spec posts can be found through a google search or the aged (the 240 is aged to so oh well hehe) 240sx.org FAQ.

edit put forums instead of FAQ

Well, we're both from the old 240sx.org boards blink0r, so I hear ya in a big way.I guess all I can say is that sh*t happens. Theres always gonna be new users asking the same 6 questions over and over, but what can ya do about it? It just says that NICO is a popular place to be I guess.

I rem before the 240sx.org forum was up and all there was, was the mailing list :)

It used to be cool seeing the new installs in the installs section come up hehe.

The product review section was cool when it was launched too :)

Oh well those where the days, do a search and nearly everything that came up was usefull info, now you gotta sit and sift.

i see where Blink is comin from. honda owners are comin from every direction to do an sr20 swap and get NAAWWWSSSS. but some of them are true enthusiasts that dont just do stuff cause a magazine tells them to (although i would like to shoot the editors of SCC, stupid ricers). but i dont think the forum is "crap" at all. i get so much info from here, and have made many new friends. i wouldn't change it!

SCC isn't that bad. There are magazines out there that are a lot worse. Some of their tests and stuff are pretty good. Import tuner and mags like that are all about rice, SCC actually has hondas, acuras, and other cars w/ some go. The ultimate sport compact car challenge is interesting too, any of those cars rice? Just because they feature a 240 and do a swap on it doesn't make them ricers, they just attracted the attention of ricers.

Most people dont' come here thru the homepage Nancy, the come here from http://www.240sx.org , most people don't even know what NICO is even though they're on the NICO forums, they think this is 240sx.org so no matter what you do it unfortunately will not change anything. : (

I came here along time ago (as you can tell by my previous posts about 240sx.org hehe and my affination of 240s back in 97 when I got my first one) and never registered as my username was taken, think I was on the original 240sx boards though.

Then I got stuck in FA for all my needs.... But I came and tried to help the newbs, even though they irritate me by their sheer ignorance at times.

By the way I noticed the red search when It was implemented and thought to myself " nice touch :) "

I learned of nico at the drag strip btw stubled in here by reference of a K car post, posted elsewhere.

You know, besides all of that stuff that blinkor doesn't like to talk about, there's not too much else to talk about on a 240sx forum.

i guess i can see blinks point....a little. and yes some of the stuff get old real fast....."where can i get this kit" but i just take it with a grain of salt....the forum does seem like it is lacking something that it had when i first started reading it. and there are a ton of new people that recently registered, that isn't a bad thing but just a little overwhelming i think.

the one pet peeve that i have had lately is the drift posers. i'm not going to mention any names....

we just need some new entertaining threads....Lost? blink? Freak? Daunt? fryrice? help........

This is another one of those threads where I sit and ask myself (after I've wasted 3 minutes of my life reading it)

"what is the point?"

you are not going to eliminate newbs (well, you could, but that'd be dumb).

you won't eliminate newbish posts by posting threads like this either. you may by doing things like enlarging the search button and telling people to search, etc, but not by whining.

Also... just answer the questions with concise responses and some of them may go away. Think about it; every time someone posts an old question that's been answered several times, and you answer it anyway, that's just one more answer for the next guy to find in search.

If everyone just quits answering newb questions altogether the problem will just escalate.

I also remember the old forum (though I didn't own a 240 so I didn't post) but I think the forum has come a long way.

And compare it to some other forums. Would you rather be on a honda board? Go to twinturbo.net and look at the number of members (way more than there are here) but then look at the number of questions that go unanswered or the ones that get read 300 times in 10 minutes and yet no one replies. Whereas here you get a good percentage of the viewers to respond.

That was long. But I just see a new thread every day that's sole purpose is too whine about things that won't change.

I'm going to start a thread complaining about why I'm not super rich and why I don't have a skyline. Then I will become rich and own a skyline.

Truly, I would be more entertaining but there isn't much to entertain. : ) Since some people have asked me, the reason why I'm here is because at FA I'm just another one of the dozen people who give the same answer. : ) Here, at least I can answer a question for someone and feel a sense of accomplishment that its me and maybe 1 other guy who helped out so and so. I would love to have some of the in depth technical discussions that occurr on other boards, which is why we try to answer just about anything, maybe, just maybe, after we get all the "newb" questions out of the way we'll start having true, in depth technical forums again. One of the major issues for the downward spiral of knowledge on this board is that shortly before we switched to the new setup, those of you that were there remember just how horrible things were. In that time we lost a lot of really great members, the migrated elsewhere because we didn't have the control that we have now. Now, fortunately we have the control and the tools to make this a really great technical forum that will help out a lot of people newbs and experienced people alike. Unfortunately, we lost most of our experienced people before the switch and once they're gone they're gone, most people never glance back. So, all in all, if you want to make this a better forum, encourage better questions, its up to you guys to pose the questions. I mean, I could pose a lot of rhetorical questions and answer them myself, which is one of the things I"ve considered doing for the FAQ, but I talk to myself enough as is. Also, people tend to not read FAQs anyways, sadly theres a better chance of people searching than reading FAQs. : ) Lastly, when it comes to answering technical questions myself, I don't know what people want to know, I mean theres a number of things that I know people want, but most of them will be posted on my website when I get around to the new update, but most are in regards to SR20s, which while that is important to "normal" members, it isn't something I need to produce for you guys. If you want to know about the power stroke of an engine, let us know, if you want to know how gearing works in a transmission, let us know, truly we can/will answer just about any technical question we can, which with K, Jesse, Ezcheese, myself, etc around, we have a pretty broad spectrum of knowledge. So, as I close this thread I'm leaving you with one last thing. These forums are what you the members make them, the only thing I can do to make them better is to moderate, I can't make this a more technical forum all by myself or what not, its up to YOU to ask questions that you want to know the answers to, don't just read, if you have a question about something just ASK it, who knows, maybe 20 other people want to know the answer too and they just don't want to ask for fear of being made fun of or burned or what not. Ask away.

there is alot of good information on this forum, and i thank you all for it. i know that noob's are annoying, and they should search and all that stuff. when i first got my car and joined 240sx.org, i read more then i did anything else. i soaked up the information like a sponge. i loved it. when i DID start posting, it wasn't about stupid things like "how do i change my oil" or "how much power does a 240sx have"? ya know, stupid things like that. i searched the internet, did research, all that stuff about the car so that i wouldn't be flamed and all that when i would post something. this is what i'm gettin at, if these newbies are as excited about their car as i was, then more power to them, because i have learned so much about 240's, and cars in general from these forums. if only the new ones would search and read more instead of posting new threads about stupid stuff. and by the way Nancy, thanks for making that search button bigger. i saw it. it's much more noticeably now IMO.

There are three basic thins this fourm has tought me a "noob" in the last month, a) most don't know chit b) research before asking c) look before yopu post

all in all thought, this fourm, (props to dauntless) has kept me from being a ricer, no sticker, no decals, no hondas, no bs !!! I admit to a stupid post every now and then, but there is a good reason, that noobs ask them, they don't know chit, they should do their research before becoming a member, MABEY ADD A QUIZ THEY HAVE TO PASS TO JOIN!!!!!!!! any ways , thank you for not letting become a ricer, I'd rather be stock, then riced out!!!!!

....watching your train of thought is like watching the hindenburg explode. first you say your a noob, then you say that "they" dont know "chit" and make stupid threads (whitch you also admit to doing) and that "they" should take a quiz to join. If we did that you wouldnt be here man.
