This"fell" off the bottom of my F50 today.. what is it/for?

A mega speed bump today victimized my Q.. thus piece falling off was the embarrassing result... Anyone know what it is and is for? Is it really necessary? o5 F5O.

Looks like the shield that goes under the engine to protect from road splash/rocks and debris from being kicked up,etc.....a much bigger issue is the quality of the place servicing your car,as the shield is suppose to be held in place by numerous bolts and clips......someone was to lazy to properly reattach it and just wedged it into place without reusing any of the original fasteners,find a new shop if you plan on keeping the car,as who knows what other shortcuts they are taking on your car.

I surely wondered how it came off and none of the wholes the clips fasten through were torn. I've been going to the Nissan Dealer.. damn... Thank you for the reply and info..

You HAVE to find a good independent nissan/infiniti specialist if you plan on keeping the Q.....you will get much higher quality work done for generally a lower cost.What state are you in?
