So I'm browsing around eBay and I run into this track car. It seems to have a bit of work done to do and at a decent price. But then the additional pictures of the frame and rear quarter are added. ARGH. I came here to get a second opinion on the car.

Without further adieu, the car in-question.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...tem

well it looks like he's definately got more than 10k put into it and for 10k thats one fast a** car but do you know exactly how hard its been driven and why he's really truely selling it..also towards the bottom of the page it sais no joyrides..i dont know if he means no test drive unless your a serious buyer or no test drives for anybody period..if he means no test drives at all thats a little odd..also is that what your looking for as far as interior and exterior wise? all im saying is if it runs good without any problems then ya i think its worth 10k imo but just be careful

I was hoping for indeed, a track car and perhaps something to get 40 miles out of weekly on the street. It looks like it has seen some track time, at the least.

I wouldnt pay 10K for it. damn thing needs body work BAD and that would drive me NUTS!. If you dont car about how it looks then I wouldnt worry about it, he has about 10K in parts in there, but i coudlnt deal with the look of it personally. The look to me is as important as the engine and the performance. Its like; Sure you can drive around a 1000 HP Chevy NOVA with a rust hole in the floor by your feet and the doors falling off, and need a tetnis shot b4 you get in it, but would it really be worth it?

dunno looks like it'd be a fun ride. Could use a bit of work on the suspension aspect of it though. Dunno if it's worth 10k based on the lack of attention at that side...

for both of the posts above me...im with you on that barndog as far as the exterior and even interior..the look of the car is just as important to me as is the performance...i just didnt want to say anything and have someone get pissed at me for stating my opinion..and im with 180 fan as far as the suspension goes..but then again like i said before thats a fast mother for 10k..im sure you would be happy with its power for awhile so you could hook up the suspension (unless something gives way ..engine wise) like i said you dont know exactly how hard he drove it

its worth it and not worth it.

theres no way you can get that much power off any other 240 for less than 10k and even if you can replicate it you'll have a bone stock 240 with crappy tires and crappy brakes with that hp and nothing else.

if you're willing to finish it up and you know what you're getting into then its worth it.

anyone that says its not worth it isn't down to put that much in their car in the first place so you'll see a lot of mickey mouse from them. all sorts of megan and ssautochrome parts.

It might be worth 10k to someone but for most people the exterior is more important than the guts. unlikely he will find the person who is willing to pay 10k for it.

HEll NO! I Wouldn't buy this car for 10k.... That thing probably has no a/c the interior is stripped, and I'm sure it has hit a few walls, and something has to be warped on it by now (doesn't seem to have any chassy strengthning).

On a side note you can buy me 1997 240sx with a ka for $8000 haha.haha you know you want it.

But if you really want a hot s13 thats fast. You can put on together for like 8k.$500 chassy$3000 engine swap (by somone)$2000 should be plenty for a paintjob $1000 bodykit (if wanted)$2000 suspension (good coilovers, swaybars, strutbars)$500 on wheels

blah you get the point... and you'll know that everything is new (peace of mind haha)

you know the motor was driven like hell. everything looks straight with the exterior except for the crazy rust holes and the ghetto riveted quarters. i dunno like someone said above me, to some people the way the car looks is a big deal. 400 hp but look at it.. that's probably $3000+ in paint/body work if you would ever decide to finish it. gotta take that into consideration.

Good work. The best way to get parts at a discount is to buy an entire car. When you do a piecemeal upgrade , you are paying an awful lot for the individual parts.

What I mean is that, even 10k is pushing it, but I can manage it.

Oh, and to get back on topic.. most of what I was wondering is the rust on the frame rail. From what my father has advised me about after years of body work on cars, is that even a repaired frame rail can snap if the car is pushed. That's a pretty scary thought.

i wouldnt touch that car with a ten foot pole. who knows whats wrong with it, could be a huge can of worms. For 10k, an s13 better be showroom.

The thing that makes me wonder is that this guy obviously put a lot of time and money into the car, but he didn't bother to fix the rust? ... and spared no expense and riveted quarter panel do not belong on the same page.

I would much rather find a cheap stocker and build it up myself... a HUGE part of the satisfaction of having a kick as car comes from building it yourself.

Dude where I come from thats called a ghetto roller. I'm not saying he didn't waste 20,000 on the car but if he did he treated it like shiza afterwards. You could easily go buy a 240 in decent shape and build it for 10 grand.
