I was just told by my parents that basically I can't get a 240sx because the cost of that car alone is equal to the 4 cars on our insurance!!!! This sucks so bad. :angryfire

The insurance costs? Mine are nothing. Just don't get a 97-98, the cost should be low. Or a S13, then it should be really low like, mine---this all depends on your record.

My insurance has never been bad, and I've owned 240SXs ranging in years from 89-95. It was actually lower than the lumina I had.

You must have like 4-5 tickets or something ---or you're REALLY young. My '92 coupe is about $170 a year,

170 a year would have to be on liability only, but even then that is hela cheap. I pay 130 a month and I'm 18 with 6 tickets.

It's liability only, I'm almost 25 no tickets on record, and multi-cars/renter ins discounts apply. I pay $103 per month for my '92 coupe(liability only), '02 Pathfinder(full coverage), and renters insurance($25K coverage on apt). This is through Nationwide.

Well i'm 16, so this would be my first car, but still it's the same as my dads 98 prelude, brothers 92 GS-R, mom's 02 v70 and sisters 02 accord. , and it's more than just liability i know that much. So they figure RWD sports car in a new drivers hands $$$$$$$$. I think my dad got the quote for a 95 240. Would an S13 be a lot less?

I managed 6 tickets bby being in the wrong place at the wrong time...well, several times. 3 speeding, unsignaled lane change(I tried hitting on the lady cop that pulled me over and it apparently didn't work), headlight out, and no front license plate. 130 is full coverage on my car. It's on the same policy as my parents which is why it's so cheap.

Get the car you want, and get a job. Tell your parents you'll pay the difference in auto insurance. It's not too hard for a 16 year old kid to work, I've been making car payments and insurance payments since I was 16. My parents showed me a little something called, "Work ethic" from the start...

I understand the wrong place/wrong time deal. I almost had that problem earlier this year, but the cop was VERY cool to me. I don't know if he just had his donuts or what, but I was cruising along in my '72 Camaro RS (406 SBC-built) and passed a semi and apparently didn't signal when I changed lanes.

The cop was on the other side of the semi cab, right where I couldn't see him. Early second-gen Camaros have a big blind spot anyway, so he pulled me over and told me he could write me a ticket for 75 in a 55, no signal on lane change, and improper restraints in the vehicle if he wanted to. He just told me to slow down, not call attention to myself and have a good day. He walked away before I could even say "thank you", but he could have really nailed my a** if he wanted to. Not all cops are ****s.

Multiple tickets is nothing to be proud of. It will eventually catch up to you. Unfortunately, most teenage males don't realize this until it's too late. That's why your demographic is consideredthe highest risk group to an insurer.Bbell: I didn't see detail about your driving record. Unless you have multiple tickets and/or accidents already under you're belt, I agree with Maineimport. Talk to your folks about being added to their policy, make a commitment for reimbusement, then follow through with it. A job ain't a bad idea either. If you get an old S-13, you won't need collision insurance. Goodluck to you

i'm 16, gettin my license aug. 27, i have to pay for ALL of my car, and gas, just not insurance. I should be getting a job this month, but i can only work weekends, because i have cross country practice after school so I won't be making a great deal of money, probably just enough to cover gas and stuff.

Yeah well there are a few things you can do to lower your rates..?wait till your record get's clean, wait till your 21, get an alarm, or a lo-jack installled on the car..state farm offers a mulitple policy dicount that is a pretty big percentage? All auto insurance rates vary from state to state so you might just be out of luck..?

i have a clean record and my wife has 2 wrecks on her record, and we pay $168 a month for a 1999 honda accord EX, and a 1998 240sx se? but this is alabama we are both age 21.

just go and ask your agent how you can get a a lower rate, of try a different insurance company? (some companies are just very conservative about sportscars and people under the age of 21.

sorry to be the one to tell you...but insurance rates don't really go down until you hit 25(this is if you aren't a bad driver, get in a wreck every other week and don't speed)

yup, 25 is the big one! Mine dropped about $30/month. I had to call them and, "remind" them that I had truned 25! It was well worth it... now I can afford cable!! Damn I hate TV

Also, another thing to consider is that if you call your insurance company and take an active interest in your rates, you can sometimes get them lowered. They are negotiable in what they can offer, and if you call up and are very professional, especially if you've had the same agent you've dealt with many times, you can sometimes negotiate a lower rate, based on the fact that you are an exception to the rule. Just don't go ruining it after you do that. : ) Also, if they don't seem willing to deal, tell them you'll be shopping around, and that can sometimes help you out. Insurance companies are like used car dealers, sometimes you gotta suck it up and take it, other times they are willing to work with you. : )
