so i bought an sr20 240 a month or two ago, engine was put in but swap was never finished. i finally got it running and it should be able to drive but im having the biggest problem with the motor, basically while cold the engine needs starting fluid, and it needs a jumper wire for the EGI pump relay, after i get it started i shut it off put the relay back in, it turns on after like half a second of cranking, and the engine runs amazing until it gets warm, while its warm it wants to die down when i hit the gas,if it dies i try to start it up and it just wont start, i try to put the jumper wire in the EGI pump and spray loads of starting fluid, itll sputter but wont catch, i got a new ECU and that fixed nothing, what else could it be??? i checked the timing today and the TPS and the timing was good, the TPS was .45 which is good.

Have you tried a new O2 sensor or coolant sensor? You mention it gives you trouble when it's warm.

Nope but what would i need to search for the coolant sensor, is it the 7$ one from FRsport? or is that the wrong one

update on the situation, i checked the fuel injector and coil pack resistance both were good, i took off the fuel hose that goes into the intake and turned the key, nothing happened. i put in the jumper cable that bypasses the ecu, fuel sprayed out like crazy. i hardwired the fuel pump and still nothing, i have no clue what the problem is with fuel but it seems electrical, i also have a spare ecu and the same thing happened.

Its very much worth it to not have to deal with electrical gremlins.
It probably sounds like I'm being paid by them (I'm not), but I tell everyone its the best thing I ever did for my 240.

Considering the time and materials that goes into a harness, I think the prices by WS are pretty fair. I've spent good amounts of time and money sourcing harness bits, gauging wires, sourcing shielded single and paired wires, finding out that some pieces will not be new unless you make your own (WS actually makes a good amount of their own plugs when needed) and fiddling with it all. It's a huge PITA. Replacing one wire here or there isn't too bad if you've been lucky enough to find that wire. But when you have questionable connections everywhere, a new harness is ideal.

haha yeah, the wiring harness will definitely alleviate any headaches you're encountering. Money well spent.
