Third gear

Alright. I am on my fourth q and this one has given me more problems than any. Last evening, i noticed my brake lights were on and had been for about five hours. Well, i fixed that.. got in it this morning and the dang thing wont change from 3rd gear. It pulls out in third and stays there even at high speeds. It's not slipping at all though. It has never acted up.. my battery died due to the brake light issue. Think this could be something electronic?

Why don't you try another TCU. By the way I have a spare one from my 91Q. [email protected]

sounds like tcu is in fail safe mode. could be due to low voltage.
G50 doesn't like being subjected to low voltage. permanently stresses componentry.
4 q45s and you are just now joining this forum??

I would run the self diagnostics - you can see how in the factory service manual available at www.infinitiservicemanual.com

Before that, it might be worth trying disconnecting the battery for a while, just to see if it resets anything.

Could be low voltage. My alternator went out, replacing it now..hopefully it fixes all the problems
