It cannot be done with the factory keyless, as there is no logic or wiring for that in the factory system
It can, however, be done with an aftermarket alarm system. I know it can because I had this set up with a Viper system I have in my 2001 QX4. You can program this system to do any number of functions. Any car stereo shop can do it. They just trip the relay that controls the electronic release mechanism...the release button on the driver's door controls it. Yes, you can tap into that under the dash. I wasn't the one who installed my Viper system but it wasn't difficult at all for them. My factory system is completely bypassed. On a side note, I can also trip it remotely from my iPhone. I love it.
Mind you, I'm talking about the QX4, which has an electronic fuel and rear glass release. If you've got a Pathfinder with no electronic glass release, this isn't possible because you won't have the electrical actuator in the hatch. I've personally never seen one without that actuator but I've been told they exist. I'm used to the QX4 and all its extra stuff.
