Thinking of trading my EX for a FJ Cruiser

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

FJ was my first choice before I got the EX but wifey said "NO" she prolly think the FJ is not her style. I kinda like the ruggedness of the FJ.

A nut AND cookoo... :)
Probably a decent ride if you need to go off road or on trails . Other than that, what would be the draw over an EX?

You'ld be much better off with the new 2013 Wrangler - 2 or 4 door. More amenties, MUCH nicer interior, power everything so you get the ruggedness without a price, Nav and sound system that is really good, 285 HP V6, Lexus quiet, 22 on highway and most importantly - 1,000s of parts to mod.

I know...I've had 7 Wranglers.

THE FJ has a poor reliability rating is really all plastic on the inside.

I had the same dilemma as you before too, and ended up buying the EX, test drove FJ and really like the drive and i like the high from the ground ride too, since I came from a Murano. I find the EX a bit low and small, quick for sure but just never get used to it. Still searching for a good trade but mean while will still drive this cool and fast EX :chuckle:

Short and fast is why I bought the EX to start with. The only cool thing I saw about the FJ my friend had is that you can get it in a stick shift. I would LOVE to have the EX in stick!

Ugh.

I don't know a single FJ owner who legitimately is still pleased with their purchase... some will SAY they are, but they'll let on that they're embarrassed that they took on that much debt for a trendy, less-than-fully-functional car.

Check the reviews, and go drive one for a couple days. Visibility is horrid, fit and finish is lame, and a lot of the "ruggedness" is styling only.

The "retro-theme" crap appeals to non-enthusiasts and people who buy a vehicle based solely on outward appearances. I'd take an EX over TWO FJ's.
