The prices of the M56 has dropped enough that now I can literally trade my M37 in for one, and probably lose no money on the deal. I know all I gain is power, and besides that, it's basically the same car.

Would you do it? What are your thoughts on this? What are the ups and the downs? Is it worth the time?

all things being equal miles and options I would prefer the car I have maintained and driven the last couple years
you may feel different based on your cars history.

Nearly 100 more horsepower and 150 ft lbs of torque will make it seem like a different car. I drove both when I bought mine (used) and there is a huge difference. I don't know anyone that has ever said "I wish I would have gotten the small er motor". In addition, you'll probably get about the same fuel economy.

I've actually thought about trading up as well for more power...

I also think the trim (wood grain) is better/prettier in the 56. Also, with the Bose speakers in the front seat/shoulder area... That's not something the 37s have.

I stand corrected. I've never seen that. Cool.

I went from an M35 to an M56...actually yesterday on the way to church I was thinking to myself, "How am I supposed to drive a V6 again when this car ages and I have to get rid of it in 6-7 years?" lol...luckily I have a 600cc supersport to get my speed fix if need be...but I would never go back to my M35.

Yeah the tech package adds the extra speakers among other things. As far as I know all options and packages are available for both M37 and M56. I think the base M56 might come with a few more things standard but still available options for the M37. The only thing separating these cars is the engine and price tag.

It's the Deluxe Touring or the Sport Touring package that adds the speaker seats not the tech...the technology package added the blind spot warning, etc.

I guess I should go look at a few M56's then. It would be the exact same color and interior, so it would be like the same car, just more power.

I just didn't want to get it if it felt like driving a truck or something. I like my m37 but I like the idea of flooring it around everywhere (I do that).

Looking forward to hearing how this goes as I will be doing the same thing in 3 to 4 years... I love love love my M37 but will be going big next and looking forward to it.

I know for fact that i'll be eventually trading up from my M37. The car is great as is, and even better on the highway. But that additional HP I want soo bad, and not to mention, get out of this blk car. :nono: s***, I don't think i'll ever buy another blk car again.

Okay, so yesterday I went to test drive an M56. I was not that impressed with it to be honest. It felt less nimble, heavier, and not really as fun to drive. I noticed it had more oomph right off the pedal, but other than that, the speed didn't even really feel that noticeable.

I'll probably stick to the M37. I don't feel the need or any reason to go with the 56 at all.

That's awesome. Always nice finding out the grass is not greener (to you) before jumping the fence and not being able to go back. Did you drive a M56 or M56X?

I personally disagree, but it's all good :). I went from an M35x to an M56x and they both seem to handle the same. M56x (not sure if mine has rear active steer) might actually be a bit better believe it or not.

Either way, any M is a nice M ;)

I just drove the M56, not the X. I figured if I want to go up to something quicker, for the same price, I may want to look at something else.

I actually thought about maybe trading it in for a Q50. Same price, but upgraded cosmetics. Any downsides, besides the backseat being smaller? I know the interior is little less sexy.

I drove a Q50 and my friend who worked at my nearby Infiniti dealership was trying to talk me into leasing one at the same because I wasn't having very good luck finding the M I wanted..IMO they're nice cars but they're definitely no M/Q70..

Basically the same power as the M37 but about 200 lbs. lighter it will probably feel like a better handling car with a little more get-up. If you are happy with the 3.7L power and don't mind the smaller car then the Q50 might work for you.

I have not personally driven a Q50 since st 6'3" and with 3 kids occasionally in the car I need the M size car, so I can not speak from experience on the subject.

Wondering why you didn't find the 56 faster, I think its a pretty big difference. I was also shocked that I feel the M as much more nimble than its size. Granted I only drove sport models, not sure the difference in the base models.

I test drove a Q50, it's definitely much nicer than the older G sedans. But for me, it's also too small (I like big cars) even though I'm only 5'11" and no kids/pets. I just like luxury cars lol.

Agreed... My girlfriend picked up an FX50s and after driving that I feel like my M37 is pulling a sled of bricks. The torque and HP vs weight are a lot better in the M56 than in the FX50 so I would think the M56 would be a major upgrade in speed/torque/quicks.. Weird.

Honestly, maybe I need to go test drive it again. But I drove a good while in it, even on the highway and around the back roads. Nowhere did it really feel that impressive. One weekend maybe I'll go again and try it.

I am also interested in Jaguars...lol. I love the XJ so much, every time I see one here I turn my head to look at it. (don't kill me)

I also love the look of the new Q coupe as well. No kids, no family. Maybe I'll test drive one too.

The XJ is beautiful although I prefer the XFR as I like the back end more on that. I also think many BMW's/Audi's are nice looking from the outside...but I'm just not too convinced of reliability. I only buy Japanese cars.

I was in the parking lot next to a black XJ and I couldn't stop looking at it. It made all the other cars look like trash next to it.

Same here. I am a huge S8 fan but cant stomach the repair prices involved in owning one. But a 400+ HP Japansese car luxo sedan built by Nissan... :dblthumb:

Best bang for the buck, IMO. If you want true luxury, LS 460L. If you want sporty luxury, IMO, you can't beat the M. I didn't ride my sport bike since getting the M56 (it was away for the winter) and I was pretty sure my car could hang with my 636cc bike and after riding my bike on Monday, it actually might for a couple seconds before the bike gets to it's optimum RPM range and walks away. This M is QUICK. The bike is just insane though once it gets going.

Coming from a GS430 I was actually shopping for a LS460 and was on my way to get one when I stopped at the only dealer in the area that has a M56. You already know the outcome.
