Im thinking of going to a track, its somewhat local, BeaveRun. and taking some lessons when I turn 18 here in Feb. By then my car will have an LSD and hopefully my KA-T build will be done. either way im going to get some mounted tires on some spare wheels like they say and pay them for the day of learning, I know you guys probably think Im retarded for paying for lessons, but I think its a good Idea, is it worth it?

and if you get caught, if you don't get arrested you could be written up for wreckless driving or careless if you are lucky... $220 ticket plus the points and inusurance hike. If you are just turning eighteen and you get a ticket like that your insurance will skyrocket.

Reckless drive plus 2 pts on ur record isnt worth it. I know first hand. Track is way better. You'll learn a lot more and be able to ask questions and be able to focus. Paying for track time is a great idea.

mfwerd. I never learned much when messing around on the street. I improved immensly just by going to one event.

yeah screwing around a parking lot just is begging for problems, plus how do you know if your technique is right, just flinging your car around in a open area just says you have no control, line, or transition to use in a real drift battle, even the japanesse have very techical tracks and touge streets to keep there form (that's why there so fast in very small courses )........go to the track learn and not stress about it!!!! good luck with the build!!

I'd like to suggest going to a track, renting it out for a day with a friend or 2 that know how to drift (probably cost you $100-150 per car), and learning by yourself. Have your friends ride along and tell you what you're doing wrong/right. My friends have helped me out A LOT by doing this; I'm working on transitions now.I did the hyperfest drift 101 event this year and I felt like i didn't learn much at all...but it was worth the $150, being that there was lotsa track time and it was at summit point. As for a clutch, I have an exedy stage 1 and it's held up for about a year; it's just recently been making some noise now, but price isn't too bad, i think i paid $180ish?
