Thinking of purchasing a used 05 SE-R. Is there anything that I should know?

General discussion area for the L31-chassis Altima, including the 05-06 SE-R models.

I've always liked the Altima 3.5 SE-R. The reviews I've read have always given it good praise. I've found one with less than 30k for a reasonable price. I'm trying to find out if there are any issues or hang ups with this particular car. Is there anything I should be aware of? Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Don't pick on 350Z's and G35's. You'll hang with 'em.

Good choice - I'm sure some Alty members will chime in, but I'd own one for sure.

Yeah I heard that.....30,000 for the SE-R is pushing it. But man, if you can get it at a decent price used........bounce on it! I am not sure though because I hear that the Altima SE-R ain't much of a jump in performance compared to the Altima SE, that you pay the extra on the retail tag for the rims, center gauges, leather SE-R badged seats, front grill and bumper, 10 extra horsepower, and so on. But.......I get it if the price was right regardless. Do what your heart tells you man.

I read that there is much less torque steer than in the Se model which is a big plus.

yes its true that the SER and the SE aint so differnt beisides the things you see like rims, interior , gauges and whatnot... but the SER's have better suspention, brakes and more torque. i found o6 SER's for about 27k so look around before you buy. also i havent heard of any problems with SER's so good luck with your buy. post pics when you do!

I have an 05 ser and have definately seen my share of warranty/recall work, and have been into some very intense coversations with the oh so pleasant people at nissan headquarters! But when it all boils down, I love my car! Depending on how much your getting the car for, weither or not its an automatic or six speed, and the milage would determine whether or not its a good deal. I have owned my car now for over two years and since all the repairs have finally been acheived correctly, car is perfect! For an 05 ser with (avg.30k) miles in very good condition usually goes for $21k-$25k (in the middle TN area).

If you have a 6 speed, you will be cursed with the clutch dropping to the floor.
