Thinking of purchasing a 2009 EX35- price to pay?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hey guys, so I've searched the internet and I haven't found a lot of posted prices for the 2009 EX35. I'm going into the dealer tomorrow and looking to get the Journey AWD with the following packages: Navi, premium, cargo, 18" wheel. MSRP is about 43K. What would be a good price to offer for this? If I go through NADA.com or other sites, invoice is around 39.5K. Thanks for your help.

Just curious how everyone is getting these at below invoice? Wouldn't that mean Infiniti would be taking a huge loss?

Not necessarily. There is usually some sort of marketing support 1-3% of the cost of the car, to help the dealership pay for the loan it took from the bank to buy the car from the manufacturer.

Also, there is a myriad of incentives manufacturer-to-dealer incentives.

For example, on my 2008 EX Journey, I paid invoice MINUS $5000 in incentives MINUS other sorts of incentives (which came down to about $10K BELOW MSRP)

One thing to remember. The dealer cash, available on new 2009 EX35's is only available when a customer pays cash or finances thru a source outside of Infiniti. If a customer selects the special factory financing, the dealer has less margin to work with. That is my understanding. You can't compare the discount one customer recieves when they pay cash vs a customer that uses the special low financing thru Infiniti Credit.

I do not think it's possible to get 10 grand off on a 2009. The only way would be if the dealer was loosing a lot of money, or the dealer is making up the loss on your financing, trade-in etc. There may have been that much in the 2008's but not the 2009's, at least not at this time. You don't want one person's opinion to keep you from owning the vehicle of your choice. If you are paying cash or not using Infiniti Finance, I think you could get around 7 grand off, maybe a bit more, but not much. That's my view based on a fair amount of research. The other factor is the cash for clunkers program. Dealers have been selling EX35's much better, I know of a couple that are sold out. Why would they loose money when the car is selling and some dealers are out of stock?

Alright, so I went to the dealer today and the EX35's that I wanted (pretty much loaded) are few and hard to come by. They did offer me a FX35 with navi and premium package MSRP about 50K for 41.3K. Good deal? Includes $5000 dealer cash rebate.
