As the title states I am contemplating the purchase of an 03-05 M45...I have never owned and Infiniti product. I own a 91 Silvia now and the M45 is my favorite sedan on the market. I dig the 03-05 body more than teh new one. They have plenty of sack and think that this is the car for me. I haev read numerous reviews on the car and many people seem to have reliability and "oiling" issues with the car. Just looking for some reviews from my fellow NICO users mostly because I trust NICO and its users opinions. Thanks ahead of time..

Pretty much everything other than the oil consumption is minor, although the replacement of the gas gauge cluster seems to a problem for more than a few folks. Yes, there have also been the occasional expensive electronics repair, but that is what the warranty - extended, if necessary - is for.

And, the oil consumption issue only affects a certain percentage of the engines.

It is a great car. However, given the amount of expensive-to-replace electronics in any modern luxury vehicle, I would strongly recommend an extended warranty like I said above.

I second the above info. The body style you refer to was only for 03 & 04. No M was made in 05 that I'm aware of.

Major diffs in 03 & 04 were the relocation of the CD & tape components. More 04 models seem to have NAV, fewer 04 models seem to have fuel gauge issues and both appear to be subject to oil issues.

My own lets out a little blue puff upon start up but I also understand that is a factor of the piston ring tolerances being set for less resistance. I'm ok with that characteristic as long as it doesn't also kill o2's, cats and other stuff. I may play with different oil weights if that "characteristic" gets wose.

In general I agree, the 03-04 body style is da shiznit, but I would have liked a true dual exhaust that came in the next gen. I would have also liked a rear window shade but big deal...so what.

For routine maintenance, oil changes are a breeze for DIY ...as are air filter changes. The cabin filter is a bit of a hassle and don't forget the seat coolers also have a filter on them and may contribute to poor performance of they are dirty. (they're not great even if clean)

Another major diff in the 03 to 04 is that the ICC system can be turned off in the 04 but I do not think it can in the 03. It is a good thing to turn it off sometimes...

For fuel mileage, If I am careful and easy, I can easily maintain a 23mpg average over two tank fills. If I'm occasionally stomping on it, I'm under 20mpg. On backroad trips at mostly 55mph, I've achieved 25.5 mpg over 400 miles.

Oh yeah...I believe I've warped my rotors and I'll be looking for non-OEM upgrades soon....

Good luck with your search...

I've never owned a car as good looking as this one. yeah, I added rims, window tint, tinted side marks, upgraded fog lites and added lowering springs.. but this thing was sexy bone stock. I have no issues to report since my purchase in Dec 2005. If you can handle the constant props, thumbs ups, fingers pointing at you and shot out from others… this is the joint for you Good luck on your search

I appreciate the input guys.....It is the sexiest sedan on the road, I actually just found a 02 Nissan Gloria Thats what I really want.....They are just hard to get over here. I already have one jdm car. I think that Gloria and Silvia sound great together. Im gonna try and make it happen. If not, and M may have to do. I definately getting one or the other. thanks again

Hello,Rich, how has driving on the left side been with your Silvia? I really do not know if I would be down. I really do like the subtle differences with the Gloria. If you are going to do this, you gotta get a AWD version. Now that would be rad. And, unlike us, you will have multiple aftermarket options. You would also lose the F50 Cima dash adaptation from when they "Americanized" the Cedric/Gloria. Also the V8 too. Then again you would be able to mod like crazy.Cheers,ML
