Hello All! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Im thinking of upgrading my z32 NA to a earlier g35 (03-05) and need some pointers from all of you:

1) how is the reliability on this car?

2) i plan to fix this car on my own and im used to the z32 that my 2 fingers barely fit into the nooks and crannies. Is this car fairly laid out or do you generally have to remove so many things just to get into something?

3)What are some of the things to look for when looking for a g35?

4) which particular yr have less problems to deal with?

additional suggestion and or advice will be greatly apreciated. Have a great 2009. drive safe!

From what I have seen on here I believe you want to get as new as possible (budget in consideration). That said, I believe (don't quote me on this) most of the bugs from the 03 and 04 models were worked out in 05. I have an 05 and love it! I'm sure others with better info will be along soon to help you out. Either way you wont regret a G35!

Hope you had a good X mas too.

Good time to get something like a G. With the economy we have should be easy to find a good deal. 03-04 has some minor problems with brake dust and headunit nothing major. Also the rev up engine was introduced 05 with more ponies.

I believe we have a sticky aout the differences between the years.

The easy access. Well once you get into newer models usually getting harder to have clear access to everything. I think this is the case with the G too.

I am sure more people will chime in and put their opinion in.

Would like to know more how diffiult maintaining this car? How is access? Do you need to remove a ton of things just to get to the alternator, for example?

Need your opinion guys. happy new yr 2009!

I suggest going with an 05 model due to the reasons already posted.I have a 05 Sedan and an 04 Coupe. Love them both!!

THe only work I've done is replaced the spark plugs and belts. Both were fairly ez to do.

I haven't looked to see what's invloved with replacing things like starter/alt/ac compressor, but with it being a RWD it should be much easier than a FWD. Trying to get to my daughters G20 alt was a huge PITA!!!

BTW, what's a Z32 ?? I'm not up on all of the car codes.

ALSO, are you looking at a Sedan or Coupe? Auto or Manual? X??Might help with your responses.

i would recommend at least a 05+++. just like being said better interior and engine. thats with the 07++ but 05 and 06 have the rev up engines which are far better than the eariler years.

Welcome to Nico You are worried too much about access.

What are you worried about? The chassis of the G35 has a front midship design. This places the engine behind the front wheels. So it is pretty hard to work on some things like headers for example.

Changing spark plugs can take a while, again, the engine is tucked down pretty far.

As far as basic bolt ons, you won't find a more impressive foundation to build on, again, 03-04's can be tuned to smoke 350Z and more... so if you have a tuning budget with plans for FI, nitrous etc... starting with an 03-04 without warranty may be ideal, pricewise. You'll free up some $$$ for mods Warm welcome, Merry Christmas, and happy new year to you...

Buy a g35

a z32 is the last gen 300zx

Z32 is the chassis code, the Z33 is the 350z

all the Z line is the fairlady line.
