I currently have an '89 240sx and would really like something more winter road worthy. After searching around I decided to stick with Nissan cuz they're the best. All the Chevys I've tested feel like total crap to drive, the Fords aren't worth the money. (Plus Fix Or Repair Daily)Mazda had a lame selection, and poor sale reps. They suggested I go to Nissan for better vehicles. SOO seeing that I like Nissan cuz they're close by, friendly, and just plain Kick azz. And with the BIGGEST Nissan/Infiniti forum on the net, it just made sense.Being that I'm 20 years old, have no credit, I need a Co-Signer. Which is hard to find. That's all I'd need and I can even afford the payments. I'm wondering what do you all think, is it a good idea, or is should I get something else? I don't have a use for the Frontier and the pathfinder is too expensive. I test drove the Xterra and I gotta say Its F****** sweet! (*MESSAGE FROM THE MODERATOR - This string has been modified. I have no issue with the Xterra, tho I prefer the Frontier a bit more. I've driven both in snow conditions and prefer the Frontier as a "more stable" platform (2k1 Xterra vs 2k2 Frontier).

Now, I would steer away from the '07. Not because there is a problem with it but due to you "co-signer" needs. Step back a few years and get something that won't require anyone else to back you. A low-mile 2k2+ would work just fine and be a better deal for you regardless of whether you can make the payments on a '07.

i love my frontier which is basically the same platform.

make sure they come down on the price -- i bought my frontier for almost 5,000$ under sticker price (even w/ 7000 miles on it is technically worth more than i paid for it, hah).

if you are looking at an xterra, i'd also look at an FJ cruiser or 4runner. toyota makes a hell of a truck. but they will likely cost more and toyota (at least here) would not work with me nearly as much as nissan.

Newer body style is def nice. The main diff between the Xterra and Frontier I drove was the engine difference as the Xterra SE (3.3l 170hp) seemed anemic compared to the Frontier SE (3.3l 210hp). Both of those would be dogs compared to the 4L, 265hp 2007 model.

Don't let them talk you out of an Xterra. I just bought an 07 and I love it. The only down side is gas.
