Hello to all. Well like the title says. I have found the 2009 G37S Sedan 6 Speed Manual after a long time of looking. But I was wondering if the price is worth it. Here is a bit of details; The car is clean title, around 100k miles, few dings and passenger seat a bit ripped, lowered on springs 2 inches, aftermarket wheels and he is the 3rd owner. He wants $8500 for it. The problem is that is a out of state car ( I live in California) and to pick it up and drive it back I will spend a minimum of $500. Is it worth it? and what to look for in a 2009 G37S . Thank you.

Is it worth it? I think it doesn't really matter if you've been looking for one. The price sounds fair and it would be worth the drive since they're so hard to come across. I looked all over for one before buying my Q50. They don't pop up very often.

That being said though, I ended up settling for an automatic just because it's so hard to find a manual sedan in decent shape and not at a premium.

Yeah manual sedans are not too common, I'd say offer him $8k. Those cars are usually pretty solid, the only problems where part of what you mentioned. (easily ripped seats and peeling interior trim. #Nissan)

Also, 100k is nothing for that car. I'd say its just about broken in. :yesnod

Thank you for the responses. The guy blackout of the deal and sold it to someone else, even after I told him I bought the ticket to fly out to Miami, Florida to check it out and purchase it :( . Hopefully Ill find another one soon.

I owned an 07 G35S sedan 6MT for about 2.5 years. Honestly the car was "good" but I never really got very excited about owning it. I never had any issues with it, and overall it was a good car to me, but I just didn't love it. It "checked all the boxes" off the must-have list, but it had some annoyances.

I think for daily driving, I would enjoy a similar year BMW 328i (even despite having way less HP) more. I like the way it drove better, gets better gas mileage, and it just felt a lot more fun IMO. Totally subjective I know, but 6MT BMW 328's are way easier to find than a 6MT G35 or G37. Now for just a little more money you can get a BMW 335i, which is a fantastic car that you can do some pretty silly things to.

I have done my research and I liked the G37S a lot, is like a 4 door 370Z, at least that is what I think. After reaching for about 2 hours, I think you are right about the 335i or perhaps one of the 5 (545i or 550i) series but the thing is, are they reliable? .My other option was the IS 250 but the HP is way too low.

The G37S is not like a 4 door 370Z, at least I didn't think so.

Those BMW's are going to be pretty similar to the G37. There's different things that go wrong with them and other maintenance items that need done, but the G37 isn't perfect and parts aren't cheap. There's tons of people messing around with those BMWs so if you don't mind turning wrenches, there's plenty of writeups for everything. Plus if you want more HP, the G is going to be a LOT more expensive to modify.

You are convincing me on getting one of those BMWs. Well I am going to keep a eye to see if I could find one for cheap.

I don't know if its the Florida climate or what, but any post-2007 Bmw '35i' model of any series tends to fall apart after 60k miles.

The BMW community is incredibly Huge down here and its usually the go-to team for someone switching over from Nissan. I can't even begin to describe how many fuel pump issues (High Pressure) I see on those things, especially with the 1 and 3 series.

The '28i's' fare slightly better in terms of reliability and are quite enjoyable in manual or auto versions, even without the 300hp. If you plan on tinkering with it and adding gofastbits, I would be leery with a used 35i model.

These will forever have my heart though.
As long as the vanos system doesn't take a sh*t on me.
