Hey Guys,I am thinking of getting a G35 Coupe, I own a honda civic coupe but, honda has so many flaws, the damn thing leaks, it rust like crazy and it way too under powered. i was planning to keep the damn thing or buy a new civic SI but after my experiences with it i think G35 are the way to go. I thought i would install a K20 jdm engine in it but i'd have to spend over $10k to have a car that go a bit faster. so after researching the G35, i fell inlove with it. my question.... does it rust under the rear wheel well and under the chassis for people who like in snow belt regions ? is the body made with galvanise metal ? does it really have a really quick pickup ? is the engine bay really sealed and shiny after a couple of yrs ? is the bottom painted or have a black rubber under coating ?? can you guys post pictures of older G35 under carriage and engine bay for people who live in salt infested regions.

Thanks a million

I think if you live in a region with heavy snow fall..there's bound to be salt on the roads..which can promote rust on any type of vehicle. Your best bet is to wash your car every couple of days in the daytime. Make sure it is at least 40 degrees or hotter so your car doesn't freeze up. Be sure to wash the underside of the car as well.

Buying a G35 coupe will be the best decision you'll ever make. I've had mine for 3 months and I love the crap out of it. As for the technical questions... im sure some of our members here will be able to answer them.

I'd say if you keep the car stock, you'd have no problems with it. In my case, the under carriage plastic pieces ripped off from multiple speed bumps/uneven roads/whatever but thats because my car is pretty dumpt.

Sorry, I live in the SE, so would not know, but Welcome to Nico!!!BTW, recently helped a friend find a used Civic SI sedan. He loves it!! He was going from an old prelude with 157K on it.Also, we used to have a 89 civic SI hatchback. Son's first car - it was used.

The looks and contour of the coupe is much better than the G35/37 sedan. But if you have kids, G35x/37x is the way to go and will give you good traction and grip during winter. To avoid corrosion, have an underbody car wash at the beginning of spring and wax/polish the car every 6 months at the minimum. Apply Clay Bar every 2 years to remove surface contaminants.

I haven't had any rust on the bottom of my car...except my stock exhaust which hasn't been on my car in a long while.

I also have the undercoating, i'm not sure if that was a stock option or if the original owner got it.

Welcome to Nico from Guelph

I have not seen a rusty G here at all and we have way too many G's here. I can't drive 10 minutes in the city without seing 1 or 2 G's.

What you should consider is the snow. If you never drove a RWD in snow before than I suggest to try it before you pull the trigger.

How old is your Civic?

If you get undercoating keep in minjd that it needs to stay sealed or it may well promote corrosion on its own.
