hey, my funds are short... like 7k budget. i could find a s14 5 speed for about 3500. that gives 3500 to work with. i could get a shop to drop n the motor and i could do the rest. im not sure how easy the wiring would be... any tips on how to do this cheap, but right?

Buy a clip and have a shop do it if u want it cheap.. That way you will have all you need for SMIC and

You probley have about 2k left to spend on stuff.

But i would reccomend buy a motor from a reputable shop and then buying FMIC down pipe intake fuel filter and all that jazz.

if you could find a clip AND have a shop put it in for only 1500 i would be simply astounded. to get the swap done right your lookin at around 3-4k ....... thats if you do it your self. i'm not sure what a place would charge you to do it maybe a few hundred or something. but there are alot of hidden costs and sr's with low milage are becoming harder and harder to find. i say if you have any knowlage about cars and have some friends do it your self. you'll appericate the car alot more if you do.....

thanks for the input... but i was really curious about the wiring and stuff. the motor should just pop right in. if i bought a complete swap and brought it to my mechanic, what would he need to know about putting in the motor and the differences?

If you get a front cut,all you have to do is lengthen the wires one at a time so the ecu will go in the correct location and hook it to the battery.

Best bet for wiring is to send ur main KA harness and main SR harness off to wiring specialties thats what im doing. its only 100 bucks and they do all the work for you. I would rather them do it then try an atempt it myself.

dont consider an engine something that just "pops" right in. theres always little things that make things confusing for someone who's doing it for the first time.

so you want a shop to drop to motor for you? It's not that hard. Do it yourself you'll learn so much. And have extra money left over =)

could i really lift out a motor with my bare hands? i dont have anything handy to lift out a motor. i think i would have them just pull out the KA and transmission and bolt up the new one and i would connect everything else myself.

^^its really hard in fact not possible, on this swap. You need to take out the transmission as well. Honestly I think you should't get the swap just yet. Your not ready enough, theres ton of info on nico just keep reading up.

Have fun trying to position the sr in with your bare hands =0

sorry, i was being sarcastic in putting the motor in with my bare hands. i was gonna take it to my mechanic to get the motor aligned right and stuff like that. ill hook up the fmic, stuff like that... wiring, easy stuff that im capable of. anyone know of any swap install directions i could get? like online or on nico? ive taken a slight peek around as of now. i've done most of my research checking out the rb25. with the stuff i want to do to my car, i just wont have the funds to make the rb25 all that its capable of.

i only have about 7k to spend on the car plus a swap. another thing, GA is pretty far. i cant find anything that good in the northeast... theres a shop in philly that will do it(rb25det) for 5k but they have some shady business going on there(copy car keys and such) im just looking for a swap, fmic, BOV, injectors, turbo timer, boost control, fuel regulator.... and thats all....for now

another thing, i saw that heavy throttle had the install directions and wiring stuff. that was only s13 though. the "s14 was more complicated." i would really like to know about getting the s14 sr clip on a s14(keep it simple and stock looking). and according to heavy throttle, i could get the rb25 for the same price? weird...(i could get the extra swap parts for like 500)

rb25 swap takes alot more effort work and $.

I think you should wait a while and read up on things before you take a big step.. getting A Sr20det or a kat setup is like getting married. you have to choose wisely and give it a while to get to know the engine before you make the commitment.

well i know i want a turbo engine. the kat sounds good but finding an engine with good milage is hard and i would probably have to do some internal engine work. im trying to avoid messing with internals for now. i dont want 3-400hp yet. anything around 225-250 will be a great way to start out. the sr20 swap looks more appealing in that sense. plus i love the way it looks. it just seems theres too much info on the s13 swap and the s14 is limited and im having a hard time finding it.

I know I'm gonna piss alot of people off here by saying this but if you have your heart set on a turbo (meaning you are more into turbo engine technology than actual nissan car technology, which is kinda what I got from reading your post) you should sell your nissan and get a early 90's awd dsm, they are the ultimate street turbo car and there have been many people that have already treaded this path so the road to 500+ hp is readily available and can be attained pretty affordably compared to other cars of the like, plus no engine swapping. Now if you are a real nissan guy like me this ain't an option. Its just a thought.

this post is getting rediculous. im asking for help on doing a s14 sr20 motor swap in a 95-96 s14. i dont need opinions on what car i should use. i want any suggestions to help me along the way. i love the nissan s14 and thats what im gonna use.

now another question, anyone know of a good shop in central jersey or eastern PA that does motor swaps? i know full throttle in NYC does them, but thats a bit of a trip for me to make and just drop off my car and traffic sucks.

You mean heavy throttle?...........................

I don't think your informed enough about the sr swap yet... The reputable shops that i know around that area is

heavythrottle and Import intellegence.

If you did more research about this swap you'd have the confidence to do it yourself.

The only odd thing you need is a hoist ($150-200). Anyone who works on thier cars will have everything else needed. Just trying to save you some cash. Good luck.

That sounds like the way to go! For sure. I know lots of guys doing different motor swaps and have months of wiring problems, and all of em thought they were good with wires.

So who can actually do this? I've never herd of a company that custom fits the harness. Got a link? or a phone number?

I just bought a 1990 240sx and am planning on picking up a S13/14 blacktop front clip. What clip would you all recomend? I'm looking for ease of install, not performance... that'll come later.
