hey guys,

new here and im highly considering a new altima coupe, accord coupe or mazda6.

i know it might be a little biased but what are your guys' opinions on the three?and if you guys were thinking of the same three, why would you go with or did go with the altima vs the others?

also, it seems like most people have the auto'sbut how many of you guys have the manual trans in your coupes?

I have the 2.5S 6 Speed Manual coupe. I can't stand the CVT, some people swear by it and some people hate it. I like shifting gears. If you like manual trans, then go with manual trans.

The reason I bought my Altima Coupe over the Accord Coupe/Civic SI and Corolla XRS was the following:

- The sales guy was knowledgeable, my age and was not pressuring me for anything at all. +1.- I liked the styling and previously owned a Nissan (Stanza lol). +1.- I found it was a luxury class vehicle (for me anyways) in a price range that offered more features then the other cars I mentioned.

I did not like the shifting in the Civic SI, it was a bit weird, I dunno how to explain it.The Accord Coupe was nice but it didn't do anything for me really.

Little things made the sale (heated seats, keyfob, can't lock keys in car, etc) plus there is a decent after market following. When I found these sites and saw everyone was generally happy with their purchase I decided it was a go.

The 2.5L is great if you don't want to spend the extra cash. It's peppy and it can spin the wheels pretty well lol. If I had the extra cash I would have certainly got the V6 model though. I like extra powa!

You really can't go wrong buying an Altima Coupe. I've gotten so many comments on the car it's crazy. At gas stations, parking lots, work, etc. Everyone comments on it. There's not many around here in my city, maybe 4-5 at most.

I would break my (+) key if I tried to +1 all the comments there I agreed with.

The main thing you are throwing back and forwth...do you want 2 doors or 4? My friend owns a Mazda6 (old style though) and really likes it and says there is a decent following, but there is just a MAJOR difference between 2 and 4 doors in the look and functionality of a car. I love the sleek back look, so it had to be a coupe for me.

Then...really...on the choice between Honda and Nissan...who doesn't have a Honda? They are everywhere! If you are getting a car based on looks (which you are, else you would be buying a Kia) you want to see people grab their neck because they whipped their head around so fast to see that sweet ride! You get that with THIS coupe, not a Honda. Honda's are fart cans and decals...Nissan is performance driven, affordable luxiery.

I never drove an Accord, but I am VERY VERY happy with all the features that come on the Altima, and LOVE it. Regret getting the 2.5 sometimes, but not when I make the road trip 500 miles to Michigan and it costs me $20 one way. 32 MPG is easy to get on the freeway, sometimes more. At 500 miles to the tank too, LOVE it.

And the CVT is really a personal thing, I am STILL not use to the sound of no shifting (owned 2 months now) but it is very nice for just leasure drives, you just push the peddle to 2k RPMs and then bam, you are at 45 MPG in no time without any shift shock

Yeah the gas mileage is amazing. I drove from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Saint John, New Brunswick on almost less than a half a tank. I was amazed lol.

I made it there and back on a full tank of gas. Got gas as soon as I got back into the city. It was amazing. **THUMBS UP**

altima coupe and accord are fwd only, mazdaspeed6 is awd (forget the standard crap mazda6)

choose between either turbo awd or fwd NA.

after that if you choose awd then go buy mazdaspeed6. if you prefer Naturally aspired big v6 fwd. then go test drive each one and choose on your liking. but whatever you end up with, get a 6MT because it's an awesome feeling and has more modding potential amost everytime.

also the in my 3.5 I get great milage. 30mpg hwy on a 520miles trip from montreal to pensilvania.

I love my coupe, I just wish it weren't four feet off the ground. The Accord coupe's got a draggy tochus, and the Mazda6 is... not a coupe, and thus not a real car. I have the CVT in my car, but only because every professional review I read said to get it. 'Course, they also said to get a stripper G35 instead of a fully-loaded A/C.

Hey dude and Welcome to NICO I will be honest with you. I am not going to sit here on my desk and tell you to get an Altima Coupe because I have one. It is your money and if you are going to spend it on a car (which is a big purchase) you better get something that you will be comfortable in for a great while.

Altima Coupe: It's a must to get a 3.5 SE V6. Many people say 6 speed MT. I have the CVT. I do love it and have no problems or CONS towards it. I live in a city which has RIDICULOUS traffic so a MT is out of the question. Besides I have another TOY car that's stick so I learned my lesson there. I also got the premium package which has leather, heated seats, heated mirrors and a BOSE sound system which are all nice options to have. The body style of the car is so appealing and sporty to me. The interior is more roomie then it looks. I can literally fit 5 adults in the car with no problem.

Accord Coupe: Never really liked the car to begin with. The exterior looks to boxxie and flat from the back. I really haven't seen the interior, but from what I've seen in the street when people are driving them is that thier seats are to far up toward the steering wheel. Performance wize I'm not to sure.

Mazda 6: It's nice to have a 4 door car. mcheddadi has been on a MazdaSpeed 6 trip recently, but that's not what you asked. MUCH LOVE mcheddadi. Performance on it I'm not so sure about as well. The car has good looks and it's catchy to the eye. I like it non the less.

Well dude just keep in mind what I have said above "It is your money and if you are going to spend it on a car (which is a big purchase) you better off getting something that you will be comfortable in for a great while."

GOOD LUCK on your choice of car. If you decide to get an Altima Coupe you are more then Welcome into our NICO forum and be a part of something that's great, wonderful and VERY VERY close to a HUGE family.

Hmm..I will probably teSt drive both before buying. But just wanted to hear some thoughts on the altima , cause I'm really not sure what I want right now. And over here (Hawaii) I see about 5 altinas to one accord. But i've only seen about two coupes in both so far. And my mther has an accord sedan 09 which makes me wanna go with the coupe more, BUT my dad used to work at Honda so he gets cars for relatively cheap prices...

Even though I'd love the 3.5 I'm not sure if I'll be able. To afford it and will proabaly end up with a 2.5. But maybe. Should just save up more for the 3.5.

Btw, how much do you guys pay for insurance? And what's your ages? This is gonna be my first car so I'll proably be eating some heavy bills if I end up going v6.

Thanks guys.

I'm 24, and having totaled my previous car in the rain and after minor fender-bender in the coupe a week later in a blizzard, I'm paying $165/mo.

I test drove the accord coupe 4 cly and the 4 cly Altima coupe. I did not drive the Mazda. I got the Altima. The accord has a little more horsepower and seems to pull harder. The A/C seems to steer more precisely. The accord seemed to wander some. The accord is also heaver. One reason I did not get the accord was because I could not stand the seats! The bolstering is too firm, and the seat is a little narrow. If you are a skinny twenty-something the seats might be fine, but not for me. I am very pleased with my altima. The 2.5 have plenty of power for everyday driving situations. The cars relatively small size and nimbleness, lets it get through traffic. I have got an average of 28 MPG on my seventy mile round trip commute through Atlanta traffic. The sound the engine makes with the CVT takes a little getting used too, but the transmission operates just fine. The car has one or two small rattles, but that is about my only complaint. It gets good gas mileage, is fun to drive, and they are still relatively rare around here, people will give them a second look. T C
