Thinking of buying a President

I live in Vancouver, Canada and have an opportunity to buy a Nissan President, with the VH45DE. I've been searching for info as to how the USDM and JDM engines are different, if at all. I have come across some saying that the JDM version is better/more reliable for some reason, but haven't learned why.

How are gas costs these days with the V8? I've read up on the timing guide issue, so I'll look into that as well.

I'm also curious if anyone has successfully married a 300zx manual transmission or other transmission to the VH in their existing car. I read up on the 240 swap, and the G35 swap that was abandoned. Has anyone followed through with this?

This is a pretty sweet car I'm looking at and excited at the possibility of driving one. Thanks for your time

Looks like you have a fetish for RHD cars in a drive on the right country.

VH45DE are very reliable (after early chain guide uprgrade), but JDM don't have the precats in the headers.

Don't know what to say except good luck and hope you are fluent in Japanese. Navigatin will be useless in Canada, eh.
