I really need advice,

I have always been an accord girl and i know they are reliable cars.

I am extremely nervous about buying CVT transmission car.

I plan to get a brand new coupe 2.5s with premium package.

I can get an accord coupe for around the same price..idk what to do

maybe its time to try something new? ;)
i honestly am deffinatly not a fan of the new accord coupe body style...
and as for cvt im pretty sure the 2010 still has the 120,000 mile warranty.. can anybody verify this?

Yes, the 2010 do have the warranty to 120k miles but i dont wanna have to take the car in for a new transmission after 20k miles...i know with accord i wont have to worry about that for sure

the reason i am looking into altima coupe is because i feel like it's time to try something new...we have had 5 accords in the family, 2002, 2004,2007,2008,2010 with the 2004 having 90k on it and no problems at all.

It worries me that i have warranty to 120k miles...is it because they break so much?

when making this decision, you seem to be stepping out of your accord comfort zone, and want someone to tell you thats its gonna be ok.

well i cant tell you whats going to happen to your car in 6 months with either the accord or the altima, but they are both very good cars, if you like accords then get one, if you want to try something new, then get the altima, you are coming over to a nissan forum asking if you should switch, its obvious your going to get a biased opinion. they are both good cars, the altima is definitely sexier...

the cvt is odd, but its a very good transmission for people that arent hard on them, the reason people have issues is because they bolt on a few extra horses. with a typical driver, your going to see a great lifespan from the cvt i believe,

... and dont forget, its sexier too.

also, if you want to make the choice even easier, look up a nissan meet near your area, talk to some owners first hand, they will be able to tell you ten fold what your typical dealer could. the best salesman is a happy owner. :)

while Hondas are some of the most reliable cars around, Nissan cars have come a long way since those early days. Trust me, u will not be disappointed w/the Altima coupe. You'll enjoy and have fun driving it! Ur not gonna be racing or flooring the pedal so don't worry about the CVT breaking down. The ride is smooth and comfortable. Last, the coupe looks much better than those bland Accords hehehe.

I dont plan to be racing or flooring it but should i be worried if i need some gas so i can pass a car?

I typically drive my accordd at 80 mph on the highway...when you guys say "gentle" does that mean i will need to drive like a grandma to keep my car from breaking :)

Have you test driven an Altima Coupe yet? If not, then give it a test drive. After that, make your own decision on what you like.

don't bother w/the back window lol, can't see crap. The remedy is to get lil' blind spot mirrors they sell at Autozone. Never had a problem since putting them on, lifesavers.

after the way i drove my car i dont think you should be afraid of stomping on the peddal occasionally, so no to dont gotta be extremely gentle lol

i would go back to the nissan dealership & ask them to test drive it on the highway, the 2.5 has just enough power & makes up for it in fuel efficiency lol

whitepearl86, I sense doubt in your posts. I always say when in doubt, don't. Although I recently rode in a new Honda coupe and it was a rattle trap. I've had my AC for a little over 3 years and don't regret it. The CVT is ok with me, no problems. It has enough power for me and since my last car(04 Maxima w/V6) was one of my favorites, just to much car for me and I've always been a coupe guy. We have given you positive advise and I hope you get what you want.
Keep us informed of your next new car.

I bought my a/c a month ago and I like it. The cvt transmission definitely is very different but you'll get used to it. Also I read recently on a yahoo article that altimas are very reliable and maintenance friendly so you shouldn't bump into any problems if you drive normally. It's a very cute, fun commuting car and im sure you'll like it.

my 2 cents? the altima coupe looks wayyyy sexier than the new accord, and you'll be astonished by the number of compliments you get on your car. and i definitely agree with insaneturbo, try and make it out to an altima meet and talk to the owners first hand, nothing beats a good face to face convo.
as for the small rear windows, you can either get the blind spot mirrors or just completely adjust your side mirrors like i did. i can't even see the side of my car anymore, i just see all of the lane next to me.

and for my last point, you say you love the altima but you're for some reason trying to find some sort of flaw in the a/c so that you can have an excuse to not get it... at least that's what i think. hope you don't take this the wrong way! definitely keep us posted on your choice too!

My Coupe has 74,000 miles, and I've had to fix three things:

1. Passenger-side front wheel hub assembly.
2. Suspension (I was nervous that the struts were starting to go, so I replaced them with BC Racing coilovers... now I'm low :D )
3. Driver-side front wheel hub assembly.

The first wheel hub I took it into Midas, and I think they charged me $350. This second one I'm about to try and do myself this weekend - it's a $120 part. I've never had a problem with the CVT, and I get my money's worth out of it.

Thank you for all the advice boys. I am not trying to find abflow just trying to make sure I'm making the right choice. 24 thousand dollars is a lot of money to spend :-) . In all honesty I am not worried about looks of the car. I think both cars are sexy. I just read horror stories about the a.c. coupe cvt trannies breaking on new cars and that's the only thing throwing me off.

I can get the coupe with Prem package for 23 out the door. The dealer dropped the price down from 27. That also worries me. Why sucha price drop ? Honda never drops their price like that. Also how bad is the resale value on this car ? I'm getting 8k for trading in my 04 ex coupe wiith 90k on it and a broken bumper and check engine light on. Would I get back as much if I was trading in the altima ?

Sorry I am picking your brains people I'm jst nervous stepping out of my honda zone.

Five weeks ago I traded a 2008 Nissan Rogue SL with 63000 miles on it. I work out of my vehicle and drive it 300 - 500 miles a week. I have had zero problems with my Rogue or the CVT. I now own a 2010 Nissan Altima coupe and I am looking forward to many years of trouble free driving with this new car.

OK heres whats up...I bought my Coupe in August 2007, never had any issues with any part of the drivetrain and Im pushing 50,000 miles right now. My mother purchased brand new Accord Coupe 3 months ago so Ive had the chance to drive both...and pretty hard at that. Honestly, the Accord is a nice ride, BUT once you get behind the wheel of the Altima Coupe your mind will be made up instantly. The Accord moves, but the Altima's CVT takes it to a whole different level. On manufacturer's paper, Accord slightly beats Altima in HP (271 for the Accord VS 270 for 3.5 CVT), but the ride is just not the same. When I went to test drive my CVT for the first time I had never driven anything like it and LOVED it. The Accord also feels a little larger and boatish, cant really explain it. I like the lower sleeker feeling of the Alti Coupe. All said and done, my mother's Accord is loaded and I wouldnt trade it for my 2008 convenience package...EVER.

Go test drive, and Im going to say welcome to the Altima Coupe forums now because I know you will be back. :yesnod

The price drop is because you're trying to buy a 2010, and they're trying to get ready to sell the 2011's. They want to move these cars, and anybody who's not willing to wait for the new models to come out is a godsend to them. Plus, their prices are marked up to begin with.

Don't worry about your Honda comfort zone; come join us on the light side. I feel the good in you, the conflict.

If the car breaks, i am going to kill all of you..just saying :wiggle:

My dad has a 2008 v6 loaded and i love that car..good handling, smooth ride...He thinks my 4 cyl coupe and the 4 cyl alt coupe are too rough of a ride...but i am not 50 so i dont need a boat smooth feel to my car.

I do LOVE the inside of a premium package. I guess my mind is made up :)

BTW, if you guys wanna talk about feeling "boaty" and wide ride..try 2011 4cyl camry...body roll like no other.

I did some research on an 08 Honda coupe comparable to the AC. Kelly Blue book on just trade in value on the Honda was 17,500. My AC would be 16,250. I personally would not trade it in but sell it myself and with all the mods I could probably get 18k+. I paid 24k back in August of 2007.
Have we sold you yet?

Ok, I admit.. I am a Honda Fan-Boy, especially towards Accords!

I had a good ol' limited edition brown 93 LX Accord and a 7 Generation 2004 Silver Accord Sedan EX..

Why did I go with Nissan Altima?

1. Look. I don't like the Gen 8 style. This is the first non-JDM designed Accord with the USDM mindset to compete with the Camry.. although it's bigger and more powerful than the previous model, I don't like the overall angles on the coupe... the sides make the lines look very long and the rear looks nice on a darker color but sorta fat on lighter colors (it looks like it's has a sagging butt!). The accord has a meaner looking frontend with sharper lines but the grill reminds me of their Ridgeline trucks! I love the revised look on the Altima's front-end.. it's friendlier looking than a G37 but has a touch of class with the newer grill. The Altima Coupes side have a nice subtle angle and really has a sportier look with the right wheel combination. The back tailights are a hit or miss with me.. it's pretty butterfly big.. looks great at a side angle but in your face in the back.. but it definately has a sportier look. I wish the license plate was positioned on the bottom bumper to maybe even out the trunk look with the tailights. The trunk to me looks best without a spoiler.. but mine has one and i'm fine with it! Dual exhausts looks more sportier than Accords (their big bumper butt looks like it's sitting on top of the tips!).

2. Feel. This might seem like an ackward comparison, but the Altima feels like an Xbox controller versus a PS3 controller (even though I have a PS3!). The controller looks kinda bulky but you hold it and it's extremely comfortable.. you wanna play it! The Accord's interior I have to admit is VERY nice.. the dash board lines, the techy readouts.. overall, I think Honda has a better build quality and detail (I miss the radio setup and trim on my old 7th Gen Accord). However, the Altima is much more simple and that's the way I like it.. you sit in it and want to drive it, cruise, speed, however you want to do it, it does it! This was my first coupe and V6 setup. The doors are a bit heavier used to and trickier getting in and out than sedans and yes, the smaller rear windows/blindspots takes a while getting used to. The roof kinda slopes down above you so at first you feel a bit squished in but after a while, you feel like you're in a cockpit of a jet.. In other words, I adjust really quick! The shorter baseline from a sedan to a coupe makes driving much more fun for me (as conservative as I drive) because the turns are sharper, I have more space to park. The gauges.. although the font could be more high tech looking, i love the orange/amber glow (my fav color!).

3. Difference. I see Accords.. all the time. It's a nice thought to know that not many people own the same car (outside these forums!). The forum support is much more greater with Accords though.. check out gen7accord.net or v6performance.com for example. There is a feeling of individuality.. you're not just a goody goody Camry, a lame Scion, Toyish Mazda, or cookie-cutter Accord, or hyped up like BMW's or Mercedes.. (no bad intent on all those brands!) I don't like to give out attention but it's my own attention that matters - this is MY car, My Nissan, My Altima! It is what it is.. I'm eager to get in and drive it the first thing I wake up or right before I leave work! Oh, although the gas milege is no fun, the V6 is awesome! I always had a 4 cyclinder and yeah.. that's all I gotta say about that!
