I'm thinking of installing a BOV on my CA18DET. I was told to disable the stock bypass valve on the T25. Does anyone know how to do this? I'm also going to recirculate the BOV. Where's the best vacuum to recirculate it? Thanks.

OK, first of all the CA doesn't have a stock recirc valve. As for disabling it from the T25, I'm very confused. Are you talking about the wastegate? If so, NEVER unhook that!!!

As far as recirculation it'll be kind of a pain on the CA since it wasn't set up for it. You'll have to make a hole in the suction pipe on the turbo and find a way to mount a nipple in there. It needs to get run after the MAFS, before the turbo.

getting a BOV and venting to atmos, w/ the stock MAF setup, will cause massive richness on decel and possible stalls; using a blow through setup, or standalone or other electronic goodies to use a MAP instead, can work w/ this.

however recirc'ing the BOV will save you the cost of the electronics or headache of a blow through setup, and also keep you from stalling out. after I got my BOV put on and recirc'd (before was stock piping, no BOV/recirc at all) the boost response was improved and more importantly it stayed mostly spooled up between shifts instead of bogging horribly

Yeah, i have an ARC BOv vented to atmosphere and absolutely no problems at all with the richness value when it opens, and i have surge still all the way upto 7 pound.. need a good 11 pound rocker to let the bov rip.. this thing does not leak.. had it closed and ran 1 bar.. no venting at all.. pretty awesome bov..

The rich/stall problems seem to be intermittent at best. I hear of more people NOT having a problem with it, than what I hear of having a problem.

as was stated before, the ca didnt come with a stock recirc, they didnt add this until the SR20. do not disconnect your wastegate on the turbo, you will blow your motor or not build boost at all if your lucky and the accuator rests open. adding a recirc is not that hard, tapping into the stock rubber suction pipe is easy, its rubber, just be sure to seal your hole with silicon sealant.

also, consider buying a bosch recirc valve(iirc its a dsm recirc), they cost about 40$ and they are for recirc only, the problem with most bov is the spring is too stiff to accually function correctly like rex and f3600 bov's. the bosch unit is opened with the slightest bit of vacume, helping response under vacume and eliminating all surge. venting your bov is ghey in my opinion and really just to show off. tap the vacume signal behind the throttle plate, preferably the FPR line or any other suitable port.
