okay so tomorrow I am going to look at a 87 starion widebody Turbo, with a second conquest parts car included.
The car has 167,xxx miles on it and is pushing 10psi
All for 1800 bucks
He said the car has overheated a little because of a pin size hole in the radiator.
Which leaves me to believe its a head gasket...
Please dont flame me for considering a mitsu *I ownded 2 3000gts* but what do you guys think?

As car enthusiasts I need an honest opinion. Is it a good deal, could I make a profit on it. Or would I just be wasting my money?

I am ready to park my z32 and do some real mods to and just daily the starion!!!!

(moderators)
*I posted on classic z section also, so the old schoolers will help me out a little too!*

Sucks to hear that. I like Starions.
TYL3R hez wrote:evos an vr4s are the only sexy mitsu's!
I just think they are very underrated '80 RWD cars.

But even in stock form, that engine bay looks like a rat's nest. Although I've seen ppl toss the SOHC turbo and swap in Eclipse or the EVO DOHC 4G63's and what a difference that makes in looks and aftermarket potential.

If I were in the market for a RWD '80's car, this is one of the cars I'd quickly pick over the fanboy hyped AE86. Z31 and Porsche 944 are two others I'd look at too...

Dammit, now I'm having flashbacks to my 944-browsing days.

It actually led me to check Autotrader to see what was out there near me, too. All this talk of cars is distracting me from my studies!

Curse you, NiCO, for feeding my addiction!

Hahaha, I did the exact same thing. Craigslist->Cars->"944"-> Enter

Nothing.

Repeat with "968". Still nothing. :(

I found two for less than $8k. One was less than $5k, and that was in a 50-mile radius. Whenever you're back stateside, come up to New England and we'll hunt them down. :P

I freaking fell in love with Starions when I was searching to buy my old starion wheels. Its a really nice car. Its kind of like a "tuner" car and a muscle car put together or something.

There are 2 absolutely beautiful 944's on base here. One is red, the other is burgundy. I can see my reflection from 30+ feet away in both of the paint jobs, and they are entirely OEM. Absolutely beautiful.

Geez, WTF... Why are y'alls 944's so expensive?! Come to Texas. http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/cto/2577931081.html

Hell, I have a buddy with N/A one. I'm trying to talk him into swapping an STI EJ25 in, but he's stupid. He wants the turbo motor that's supposed to go in there, but that thing is junk, IMO. I would not consider buying a turbo version.

You know what it is for me? Its the flares... The 944, Starion/Conquest and FC RX7 all have the sexiest flared fenders...

In 1988, shortly before I was to turn 16, I had the opportunity to buy an '83 944 for $800. Yes, you read that right. $800.

It had 2500 miles on it. Guy selling it inherited it from a recently-passed uncle and didn't know what he had. I just about nutted all over that car. My father wouldn't let me buy it because it was "foreign" and "too much for a 16-year-old."

It was the only time in my life I ever wanted to beat the snot out of my father. :)

Should have bought it and told your dad later. :P You should have used the driveway of the friend with cool parents until you did.

That was certainly part of it. Living in the ruralist of rural Missouri, though, availability of spare parts was a big issue as well, as was him just being afraid I'd wrap myself around a tree with it. :)

Ah dads are too smart.... as a teenager with 2 cars I wanted a 69 RS Camaro as a 3rd dad would not let me do it. I ended up with a 65 CJ-5 Jeep that is still apart in my garage today!
