A friend just upgraded to an A4 and is offering me his '01 Maxima for a couple hundred dollars.

The problem is that it's a very high km car because it was driven from Montreal to Toronto weekly for a big chunk of its life. Other than that he drives ok without beating on it too much.

It needs a muffler and tires, car looks identical to this one in the pic except it has the 6 spoke rims (nicer looking imo) and milage is at 200,000 miles or 320,000 km. He just did all the brakes not too long ago and it had a "tune up". At such a high mileage what are common issues, what could it need, what should i be checking for? He told me that sometimes it cranks over a little longer than normal before starting, otherwise it's ok.

I would jump on it. Even if it has major mechanical problems you could still fix it and it be worth while most likely or part it out worst case scenario. These cars are reliable even after 200k though, even if you get another 50k out of it you'll get more than your moneys worth

I'll take it if you don't want it for any reason. I'm serious. I have one just like it.

At 200,000 miles that car is probably worth 3000-4000... You'd be insane not to buy that car at $2000, let alone $200.
