I am going to a dealer auction with a friend who's a dealer. Should be able to get one at wholesale cost.

I have a few questions:

1. What are there differences between the 97-99 models? Any recommendations on the best year?

2. What types of things should I look for when evaluating the trucks at the sale? In other words, are there reliability issues with anything that often occur in these models and/or any other issues I should watch out for?

Thanks, Matt

I'd peruse an Edmunds site for differences...But if you can afford to hold out for a 2001, that's the one to get..With the new larger, more powerful engine, worth the extra...Really worth the extra...

thanks Jack,

I would love the 2001, believe me. I've just had to say no for now. Just built a new house and trying to get used to those payments.

at whole sale price you might be able to find one close to a 99 price it may have more miles on it but jack is correct its worth it.

Jack on a side note, if you dont mind me asking, what do you do,for employment that is, are you affiliated with nissan in any way?

We have a 97, and it's a damn fine truck.

Needs a few tweaks to rectify some things Nissan should have done differently, but for the money, it's a lot of vehicle.
