so would this make it an sr20dest or sr20dets...lmfao...sorry was reading a post a minute ago and laughing. Anyway a vortech type supercharger would be "easy" to put into the belttrain but I've wondered where would you put the charged air...into the hotside of the intercooler? And I was thinking maybe you could use a clutch system kind of like what an ac compressor does and wire that into a solenoid that would let the supercharger spin freely after a certain boost was reached by the turbo/or rpm reached by the engine. As many of you know used vortech/prochargers can be had on ebay and rebuilt as well as the roots type which I've seen used by Bee-r and other companies in supercharging their turbo sr's. I'm just looking at the fabrication required for the roots type and the vortech/procharger type would in theory be easier. Input and ideas are greatly appreciated in this thread...as I'm SERIOUSLY THINKING about doing this.

normally the designation of 'r' is used by nissan to represent a supercharger. however, when used with 't' or 'tt' it represents an oversized turbo. so i don't know what that designation would be at that point.

I emailed RHD Japan about the Bee-R S/C and the price was like $5400 shipped if there still available. I love the idea of a roots charger. I bet Jackson, Kenne Bell, or Whipple probably has a small one that can be retrofited to work.

If i had to abbreviate a S/C SR20DET, it would be SR20DET-R.

well I finally landed a couple new jobs...so hopefully I can get the money together to do this. Right after I fix 3 prematurely worn b/m valveguides and 4 ss valves that are out of spec but didn't leak. I had my apex headgasket on the motor for less than a tank of gas...and misshifted. Enjuku says it's better not to reuse it but I dunno...it still looks brand spanking new...I have arp headstuds ...I don't see how it could leak...but I might just put a couple extra foot-lbs on the headstuds just for safe measure...shelling out 200 AGAIN for something that was barely used...just seems absurd. I've been drawing diagrams for both types of chargers...basically in the roots type the air is already metered through the maf before the intake of the turbo...and then it goes into the intercooler, TB, and into the charger which charges air into the lower runners and then the cylinders through the intake valve train...duh yeah...we know. The problem I'm forseeing is granted the vortech/procharger type is less fabrication...it would require that the air exiting the supercharger be metered...I dunno ...I'm going to talk to Enthalpy once I get it all figured out. If I can build it I'm sure he can tune it.

been researching...maybe a vortech/procharger with an a/c clutch that worked off manifold pressure measured by a separate boost solenoid...

You dont want a Cintrifigul charger for the fact it wont make full boost right away. Roots is the best because itll give instant boost making the extra TQ/exhaust to allow the turbo to spool quicker.

you could also just not worry about it and do a blow through maf.

they next time your out this way you should swing by. you really should take a look at the car. its almost done, and everything else i need has been ordered.

you should really buy new rocker arms and have them treated...I'llswing by when i get a chance...i also thought about a blow thru maf ...seems feasible would just be a tuning issue.

Wouldent it be eazyer to just make it a twin turbo sr20dett ? You could still drive it off boost and still get 30mpgs! +Less drive-train loss and strain!I think if its street driven dont do it. Do you want to be making around 4-10 psi cruzing @ 2500rpm probably getting 10-15 mpgs driving like a grandma? if its a track car or a 2nd car DO IT!!! I wouldent do it cuz Im poor and like 30mpgs!

Blow Through doesnt work so well from what ive heard. Oil blow by and whatnot tends to destroy them rather quickly. Better off going MAP if doing the Twin Charge setup.
