So I got an offer for my car $8000. It seemed like a good deal for a 78k '96 in pretty good condition with all my mods. How does that sound to you guys? I'll probably replace it with an s13 or a 95 and do the sr swap or maybe buy one with it already done. SR or CA seems like the more reliable way to go than KA.

Go for it, sounds like a good offer, and you'll have money to have fun with an SR20 S13.

Ah yes the dilema... I have a '98 .... one year left on the payments. Bought it to have a nice daily driver will I restored my 76 280z.... the straight 6 is nice but... a turbo that is the way to go... 280 is done minus AC, but it is winter time anyway... do I sell the S14, by an S13, do the SR Swap... or keep the S14 and by a bolton kit... I know my car is mint... aside from three dings and the notorious 3rd gear issues that plague most 240 owners.

So I guess what you have to ask is... first do you owe any money on your car? Second do you have alternate transportation? Do you have a line on a 240 in good condition (suspension, brakes, electrical, etc... everything not included in the swap)? What I am getting at is research... I have been thinking about this for about a year now, and still haven't made a decision.... Having the old Z tempers my choice, cause i already have a "play" car...anyway good luck... write back when you decide.

That's a good offer, especially if it's not an SE. I paid $7500 a couple weeks ago for my 96 SE with 76k miles on it and some people thought that was high.

Well my car is paid off. I would most likely buy an already swapped sr since they are a lot less expensive than paying for a 240 and swapping it. There was an 89 with about 20k invested in it that went for 7000. So I was thinking that's the way to go if I want an extremely fast car. I'd like to push my car into the 10s and it just doesn't seem like the KA will be able to handle it as reliably as the SR will. The KAs head tends to crack under high boost from what people with 400hp KAs have told me. Not sure about the SRs, but I'll research that a little more. It would be a LOT of work to get the KA to run high 11s. Probably a little less for the SR. So that's my thinking right now. I'll probably have around 12k to spend on an already swapped s13 so I figure I'll be able to run pretty well and look good too. :-)

it's ok... we were all newbies at one point.

i have an s14 with the ka in it. USDM 240sxs have the KA24de instead of the JDS sr20det.

i just got an offer for 8000 to sell it. so i'm thinking about buying an s13 with an sr already in it. it tends to be cheaper that way.

We live in the US, SR20DETs never made it to the US.

did you have your car on sale.. or did someone just offer you that much, cuz its happened to me more then once where people will ask me if i am selling my car.. strangers off the street i mean.. last time i was at a light.. the guy behind me approaches me from the side and asks me if i am selling my car..., of course i shock my head no and just rolled up my window..

but only sell it if you can sleep at night knowing your car is in the hands of another man..

Oh of course. It was a friend of mine that just really likes the look of the 240s. I can't blame him. It's a beautiful car and I'd hate to see it go, but if he's going to offer me that much I'd be more than willing to sell it to him.

Considering your car is probably worth about $6k, I'd take the 8 grand
