Hi All.

I am pretty new to the forum, but have been reading a lot of posts, so thanks guys for all the tips and tricks you've posted here.
I've done the nav-hack to my M45 Sport- thanks to this forums excellent FAQ/HOWTO section.

I am considering selling my beloved M45. It had the CPO warranty until May 2012 and has 93k miles at the moment.
I absolutely love the car, but want to get a 4wd car. I live in Dallas, TX but at some point I am going to move
back to my home country - Finland - And this is where I would definitely benefit the 4wd because of the snow and a little bit colder winter.

It is a sport with the technology package, but the original owner wanted to have the wood panels instead of the aluminium.

What would you set for asking price for my M45? I think there has to be some margin for tire kicking / haggling?
Opinions?

First off, GL on the sale.

To get a decent estimate of where you want to be with an asking price, shop around Autotrader and other car markets to see what similar (year, model, miles) cars are selling for. Also, there are a few calculators out there that'll help to determine your car's value, such as KBB, Edmunds has one, and there may be a few more.

Either way, just do a little research and you should be able to get a decent idea of where you should be with your price. I can't speak for everyone, but Edmunds.com is a very informative site and I think they can definitely steer you in the right direction.

again, GL and very nice looking car you have there.

Good Luck on the sale mate.

Firs and foremost I can tell you as someone who just bought a M35X and lives in New England I would check out KBB.com or blackbookusa.com(most dealers use Blackbook) but it's good to have an idea on what they would offer. I know that according to KBB my 07M35x with less then 40k miles is worth around 20k to a dealer and a little more private party. If you were to sell it to a dealer they aren't going to give you book price most likely 4-7k below book price unless your trading it in.Private party you have to find someone with the cash or can get a loan (personal experience that's always a pain). I would say with that many miles on it and the year maybe worth 17-8k max. Best of luck man hope you find a buyer and the AWD for the M's are just awesome!

In my op, your have gotten good advice from other posters. But, the so called book value only gets you into the ball park. Depending on the condition of the car, both with internal and external componets the price can vary greatly. Are you doing a private sale or looking for cash from a dealer? Generally, cash from a dealer will be much less that a private sale. But, the hassle with a private sale can be enormous.

You did not mention one important item, are you going to sell and trade and then ship? I can only imagine shipping costs are not cheap. I have done all three and needed to sit down with a calculator and figure out which way was the best financially. At that point the old car and new ride meant nothing to me. It was all about the Benjamins.

Best of luck to you and let us know how it works out.

Thanks to all of you.

I am looking for a private sale, or to trade in for M37X. I am going to stay in Dallas at least for another year so I am going to ship the car later (when i ship all my gear back to Finland). I Know that the shipping costs are in a ballpark of $2-3k but Inifitis are really expensive in Europe, especially in Finland. They're asking about $40-$50k or more for 2008 FX35 in Finland! ( Link to Finnish autotrader.com , prices in €uros and mileages in kilometers http://www.nettiauto.com/infiniti/kaikki/ )

Its definitely worth shipping the car to Finland because I value the uniqueness of the car since we don't have official dealers or importers of Infinitis there.
