Well Q_Ship I dont think it is a question of growing up. More of just a change of taste on this specific vehicle.Q_SHIP wrote:Congradulations! You are growing up!!
Grown ups drive grown up cars.

The Price for a ticket for tints in New York $60 + Extortion Fees $60Cost 120 DollarsRex wrote:17's and 18's are the best for the Q, update the look good, and not too much of the bad.
I'd suggest looking for some OEM wheels, to help amke sure you get good quality, without forking out >$300 per wheel.
The 17's will give you the most tire options and help keep tire costs down. There are several optins out there, do you have a style of wheel in mind?
As for tint, if you remove it, please be careful to not damage the interior or the rear window defroster. NY probably doesn't necessitate tinted windows as much as AZ does for Greg (AZhitman) or the Ohio summer do for me in a black on balck Q. All in all I'd rather not have tint myself, but I couldn't handle getting in the car on a hot August afternoon .
And for the trunk space, if you can't go for something like PMQ has built, but not "produced" yet, just move to a sinlge well powered high efficiency sub. It will take up much less space and give you near the sound, exceopt for the extreme situations when you're trying to set off alarms .
Taste, age maturity, needs, wants - whetever you wanna call it, it's changing.
Q45Caliber,Quote of the day! Well, I am not going to take time out of your day to chastise or criticize an individual's taste, but I will offer you my suggestions. First, thanks for being positive and inquisitive forum member, it is a relief to see that type of person posting good questions. Here are my suggestions:Q45CALIBER wrote:

Yeah, it's coming. Slow but steady. I'm still working out the minor imperfections in the master. I want the duplicates to be perfect so I don't have to use ANY bondo. Just high build primer, or carpet. That way it will weigh in at around 20Lbs. The master currently has ~10~15Lbs of bondo on it, but it looks so damn niceRex wrote:And for the trunk space, if you can't go for something like PMQ has built, but not "produced" yet, just move to a sinlge well powered high efficiency sub. Huh? Do you mean that you have subs sitting in your trunk with no enclosure? Or do you mean you have speakers sitting in your trunk?Q45CALIBER wrote:Speakers I got some heavy subs in the back. If I dont put them in some enclosure soon and salvage some trunk space they will be in storage....
Night time visibility for slow/fine parking/backing ... looks good , functions good for heat , bad for visibility .elwesso wrote:Rex why dont you like tint on your car?
17s or 18s look great on the Q...
I agree completely. Anything over 15% tint makes it extremely difficult to see at night. I personally only have tint because it blocks out some of the UV rays.Rex wrote:Night time visibility for slow/fine parking/backing ... looks good , functions good for heat , bad for visibility .

IIRC, it's 35%, but a long time friend did it for me and we never discussed intensity.elwesso wrote:it just depends on how dark the tint is.... What are you running, rex?
Yeah BK is where I cracked my rim. The tire was aready flat i suspect. Low Pros big rims I could not really tell.I am definately going to look in to that. I am not ready to purchase new rims and tires yet but I will check in to this. I do like the M35 rims. As for the tint it seems like the pros and the cons are at a balance with me right now. I do have a letter from my optomitrist saying I am photoptic but out of everything in the world I could misplace it was that....Good looking on the rim info. Post some picture when you get a chance. Here is my Q minus some new additions.EQwhipD wrote:

First, thanks for being positive and inquisitive forum member, it is a relief to see that type of person posting good questions. Here are my suggestions:
Wheel/Tire:The Q45 is an automobile with excellence in design. The lines of the car are classic, so the job of the rim/tire package is to accentuate what is already there. We all agree that piepans were good to the car in the nineties, but age the car in todays society. I agree with others who have posted on this thread, when they sugested you go OEM. Nissan (or it's contractor) produces alot of quality and stylish wheel/tire combos. Trust me, Im from BK (Flatbush!), potholes will kill a 20" rim faster than a NY a minute. Here are rims I would look at to replace the 20's (just for practicality's sake)
Maxima:Rims from 2001 to the present are very stylish, especially the SE or GLE rims are very stylish and classy. They really seem to go well with the car, and come in 17 and 18 inch sizes. (A great PLUS) Also check Ebay for pics!
Infiniti:In my opinion the 2003-2004 M35 18" wheels look perfect on the Q45. They compliment the lines of the car very well. Also the 2002-2005 also look amazing on the vehicle as well; however the only drawback is that they do not have deep-dish designs, which is one little drawback. Something about a strong lip on the Q45 looks good; hence the Jeff William fraternal twin Q's (Lola and Layla).
Windows:I had to take the tint off of my second Q, simply because it wouldn't pass inspection. It was like uncovering a gold mine simpley because the Q's were designed to have a gentle contrast in color and texture from the exterior to the interior. It creates a pleasant and luxurious appearance. I opted to keep the tiny off, since the windows have a natural tint anyway. ONe drawback, is that the tint did prevent a lot of UV rays from entering the cabin, but if you condition the leather at least once a month, you should be fine.
Tires:I am not a tire expert, but I have put new Borbet rims on my Green car (pics to come), and I am running 235s in the front and 255s in the back. One word- MAJOR!
Q45Caliber I hope this helps!
My Two Cents,Evan (EastCoast)
Actually I did all the bushings in the front. I have a friend that has some continental 245 40 20 that he is not using I will probally put those on the front and buy the 275 35 20 for the back for now. How did you get by out here with the front window tint. Any problems??pito11213 wrote:20" in nyc is a no no for the Q unless you have replaced the suspension setup with new parts. It will just eat away at it quicker. I like tint on all my cars. My Q was tinted 20% with the windshield tinted at 30%. I liked the way it looked. Go 18" on the rims with a good enough tire with some meat on it.
No sir there is a enclosure. I just need a better solution. I was looking to get some feed back on you enclosure. I would like to port the enclosure into the cabin...is this a can do?PoorManQ45 wrote:

I wonder if my subs would fit in that thing. hmmmm!!! Is it for 12"PoorManQ45 wrote:That would be very hard for me to do without having access to your specific vehicle(even if it's the same as mine). Things have to be cut, the port has to be routed.
I would say the easiest route would be to remove the rear speakers Your rear passengers would get screwed, but who cares, you're not going to be sitting in back
Anyways, I just got the enclosure back from my neighbor. He's restoring a new toy of his, and he was primering so he offered to primer my enclosure. He used a gun with some high quality epoxy primer. So now I just waxed the whole thing and am getting ready to siran(sp?) wrap the whole thing and make the mold(finally :tisk )
The one pictured is for a 12 inch driver, but the design can handle up to a 15in subQ45CALIBER wrote:I wonder if my subs would fit in that thing. hmmmm!!! Is it for 12"
