Hi,
I've been a long time nico reader (don't post a whole lot) in the 240sx forums, well we're looking for a truck and found this. What do you guys think? How's the reliability/running costs of one of these? It's not going to be driven everyday, mostly just a weekend home depot runner.
They want $800 for it, with an aftermarket bed cover. It's a '80 model

P.S. I do have a wrecked 240SX with a sweet KA24E in great shape sitting around...Would that drop in with minimal cost/effort?

Offer them $600 citing any repairs that need to be done.

I went and checked it out, though they weren't there. Cracked windshield, 3 bald tires, flat paint, no stereo. didn't see any major rust, and I did crawl under it a bit. It has chrome wheels, though probably factory diameter, lol. No rear gate. It didn't have the faux hood vents...weren't those on 80 models? Other than that seemed like not too bad for 30 years old. Hopefully I'll get in touch with them tomorrow. While test driving it/looking under the hood, is there anything specifically good or bad I should look for? Any classic spots that rust out or parts that go bad?
Thanks!
Alex

I love the nissan cab and square headlight look with the older style datsun bed, been thinking about bobbing a datsun bed and throwing it on my 85 when I end up taking the flat bed off. Nice rig, and a whole lot cheaper than what I paid for mine.

$600 would be the right price, considering you can find a 4x4 for around $1k. At least in my neck of the woods you can...

If you've got a complete donor vehicle for the KA engine, then as mentioned before, you're really only looking at the fabrication stuff to get it swapped. Oil pan and motor mounts. Then a TON of wiring (if you're using the donor harness and computer.

600 is not bad seeing there isn't much rust. The swap is pretty straight forward seeing that you got the whole car to use. Go for it.
