It's time to buy a new car and I came across the Maxima. I like it but just have a question about the stock stereo. The one I'm looking at comes with the Bose stereo installed. Just wondering if it's going to be difficult to hook up a new cd player, speakers, and subs. Car is 2004 by the way.

Welcome to NICO!

The Maxima is an excellent choice. Check this link out.

I would not recommend replacing it, just out of sound quality issues. I replaced my HU in my 94 Q and I like the fact that I have a CD player and XM, but, I can only turn my radio up 1/4 of the volume due to distortion.

I'm going to go way out on a limb here and say that the Bose speakers in an 04 maxima are slightly better than the ones in a 94 Q. I replaced my HU in my 01 Max and the speakers sounded 100% better. Besides, I'm sure the speakers sounded better in your Q but you had more power and volume and were able to get to the distortion level easier.

I think the 04 setup is similar to mine, in which case I would say if you are thinking about it then do it. You can go to http://www.crutchfield.com and enter the exact specs of your vehicle and it will show you exactly what is required to replace it. Check it out!

Thanks for the info! I'll prob just take my subs outta my car now and see how they sound with the Bose system. If I don't like it I'll just replace the door speakers.

Let me know how it goes. I've done a lot of tinkering around with my Bose and aftermarket systems in my maxima and can probably point you in a good direction.

The problem with mine is that the factory Bose are 3 ohm and of course my radio is not. I have the audio level piece hooked up and it's turned all the way down. If I turned it up the slightest bit, it would be nasty. I'm going to put the Bose HU back in. I only drive my Q on Saturdays and Sundays anyways.

Good luck in whatever you decide OP.
