so i am thinking about buying either.. the only difference I can see so far from a quick look is the stock wheels, bolstered seats and what else? Side Skirts?

I am interested in AWD because I live in Canada and it snows alot here, I know I cannot compare but when I moved from TO I sold the TL and got a smuch smaller Mazda3 and its begining to get to me.. the lack of traction control and the weight of the car and maybe my tires were too wide.. but long story short I am spinning all over the place even at slow speeds. So whatever the reason, this didnt happen when I was driving the TL in Toronto and i did see the traction control come into place every so often.

I read that the AWD here is automatic so it only comes on when it senses issues .. can you set it to be AWD all the time? Any other comments on the AWD in snowy conditions?

Whats the smallest rims I can put on these things? I am thinking steelies for the winter with Hakka5s? 17?

Thanks guys

The AWD on the G35x is absolutely AWESOME! It works so beautifully! You can literally plow through anything that you will come across on paved surfaces. The nice thing is if you are looking to have fun messin' around in a snowy and iced parking lot you can turn off the VDC and go nuts spinning around. Let me tell you, that car can whip some nice cheeries when you want to have fun. Like I said though, on the road is a nice safe and easy to handle vehicle, I have an '05, and I drove an '07 for two days as a loaner, and it handles the same way, just a little smoother suspension.

Daniel I am from Guelph, On. I have the 07 X and I love it soooo much. I bought it last winter(nov 06) I used it all year. Handles the snow extremely well. I only tried the snow mode ones. You don't needed it. AWD is auto and it is engaged at the start and after it turns RWD and it kicks in whenever you losing your traction. You don't needed it all the time. The system itself is a closest thing to miracle. It works so good. As Timmbo explained it you turn the VDC off and that's where you are in "play" mode. Get an empty parking lot and just play. I just did this week I missed it sooo much. Last winter we went to visit my friends new home. They were just building it. Construction and lots of snow. The X wasn't even hesitating. I switched tires couple of months and let me tell you with Falken 912 all season tires it is even better than the original tires.

If I were you and if you are not in a hurry wait till January. The sport version of the X will be wicked. I think.

hey guys thanks for the reply very imformative, i was thining about lexus ES350 and infiniti but I am leaning towards infiniti becasuse of the AWD, I think I need that.. did u guys test drive anythign else before buying?

does the 07 G35X have the sport version? I do not think I can wait till Jan, once my maz3 is fixed.. (1k of damage from not having traction control.... *sigh* and yes I was going slow.. 70kmph on the highway when everyone seems to have a jolly good time going 100 or more.. and i felt stable untill.. *spin*) some people say its because i have 225/40/18s on.. but I have nokian WRs which r supposed to be snow rated... but some ppl still say its not good nuff LOL anyways......once its fixed by mind next

Wats the smallest steelies I can put on the G35X ? Can I go with 16's ?like 205/55/16s or do I have to go with 17s?

THANKS !!

I roll on the stock 17 and as I said no issue at all. Sport X won't be out till January.

Most of us testdrove several other cars. Like es350, Acurat tl,Cadillac, Mecedes and BMW so on. I love how the G drives and the interior was/is just stunning. Most of us were the same way. The es350 is fast and comfy but too luxury don't feel sporty, Acura tl not as fast but good car little too europian looking. BMW overpriced and reliability issue. Mercedes overpriced. Cadi too heavy, big and slow. Audi well good car but $$$$. The G is well worth reliable and sporty with good tech packages for a reasonable price.

Having a AWD car is only about 5% of the solution on snowy roads, the other 95% of it comes down to tires. I have a 2007 Infiniti M35x and even with AWD it's still all over the place because the OEM tires are pure junk. The active 4 wheel steer moves the rear tires a maxiumum of 1 degree, which helps you maneuver quicker, but it's soo minimal it's just a gimmick to attract people.

hey thanks for the reply, yeah its a given I would not be using stock tires to manouver the snow, I am getting Hakka 5s. And a questions related to that is how small rims can I go down to? 16s or 17s?

if anyone knows the rest of the answers to my questions pls help out.. thanks.. see 2 posts above

I think so too. I had no issue at all last winter with my original tires. I think it could be driving style too. I push her at winter time also with no issue at all.
