Down the road from me a 1991 240sx has come up for sale. I have always wanted to get into the tuning community and thought this would be a perfect opportunity. It's completely stock with 70k miles and very clean with only one tiny rust spot starting to form. If i purchased it I would want to do an engine swap, but not sure what to go with. I don't plan on doing any drifting or anything. I just want something that's fun to drive around, kicks you back in your seat, nice pulls, and have a nice sound to it. Something I can pull up to the light in and go. I don't want to drop a ton of money into it though.

No matter what you do for an engine swap, be prepared to drop a few grand. Be it an SR, RB, KA turbo, etc. If you want an all around reliable fun car, any of the standard motor swaps/upgrades will be fine. As I tell everybody, just start going to each of the motor sub-forums and begin to look at all the pros and cons of each swap and make a list. Pick the best one that suits your wants and desires.

Go KA-T since you have a low mile car/engine. Find a spare block and build it, swap it when you are ready. Depending where you live, at least in Texas emissions will be exempt for 1991 models starting next year 2016. :) Engine has to be same make and newer. If you are in Cali you are jacked.

This equation is always good to remember when dealing with modded cars. You only can have 2 out of 3.

Fast>Cheap>Reliable
